Bowling night again. Gary and our team captain shot good. I didn't bowl all that well, but we won all 7 points, and had some decent bourbon. We had some Bulleit, 1990 JW Dant BIB DSP 2/16, and did a side by side of a couple of Weller SR's. All in all a fun and enjoyable night. It's always better when we win.

Brilliant. How long do you let them sit?

My goal is at least a month, preferably two, but it doesn't always work out. Sometimes I get a little thirsty and they just don't last.

What was the verdict on the WSR's?

Bowled awful my first game, my knee is killing me and the wi-fi is down at the lanes. So, I decided to get a jump on bourbon... For medicinal purposes of course. Starting the night out with a Devil's Cut as is customary (if a little early)

About to watch Archer on FX and enjoy some very fine OWA. Damn this bottle is going quick.

Great minds... Had TPS OWA while watching Archer tonight.

Van Winkle Rye

Black Maple Hill Small Batch

Interesting to be back on the brown stuff after 18 days of mezcal. Very exciting to see a similar increase in artisanal production. The variety is much harder to keep track of with eight major maguey, and 15 times that of subspecies, not to mention the changes in productions. I find similar excitement with a 250 bottle run of hand crushed, wild harvested 50.5% tobaziche (plants of 13-15 yrs. old) as with that Van Winkle Rye.

An Ezra B 15 yr bottled in '03. Huge butterscotch. Very viscous. A terrific whiskey. I've searched several older threads to try and determine it's provenance, as this bottle is from the old David Sherman, but nothing seems conclusive. What I can conclude is this, whichever distillery gave up this barrel and didn't bottle it for themselves...made a big mistake. Maybe though, just another casualty for them of glut era whiskey. Good for me, though! :yum:

Enjoying a totally awesome Old Fitz Prime. it's been sitting on top of the hutch in my kitchen and I can't remember the last time I hit this bottle or how fantastic it was. Maybe I'm just in the Old Fitz zone tonight.

Sfarted the day off with Maker's Mark. Followed that with Buffalo Trace. Then this evening the comparison between ORVW 10/107 and OWA NAS 107,

Veered away from the ryes tonite to the wheaters....ORVW 10/90, then the OWA/W12 SB.mingle, and finalized things with WLW '06...a bottle sadly entering its death throes.

Willett 18 year

My first standard issue 4RSB - an amazing whiskey!

WTRB

Fell asleep with a glass of 4R OBSK, dammit. It looks like I only had one sip of a very healthy pour.

Clearing out a few samples that were pushed to the back of the cabinet. A.H. Hirsch 13yr Rye steals the show.
