4RSB OBSK from TPS, coming out my nose from laughter when my wife objected to me playing a CD by Morphine, because she mistook it for Megadeth. "I kept waiting for them to start screaming", she said. Nothing but a two-string bass, drums, and two saxes for the whole album...

AAA 10 start tonight. Went over to a friend that will only drink it mixed with ginger ale or sprite. At 12.95 a liter perfect combination of a good mixer and one that can still enjoy neat or on the rocks.

Ya know EJ, I keep reaching for that 10 Star, but always pull back. Didn't care for it the last time I bought a bottle...but that was more than a few years ago. Your positive take on it, as well as others good reviews recently, is prodding me to pick one up next time I'm at the store (i.e. tomorrow:D)

Tonight, for me, it's Bowman Brothers Small Batch while solving world problems in front of the outdoor fireplace.

their newest barrel? what are your thoughts on it?

Yep, their newest one. It's fantastic, all subtle 4R and a whopping of dry, yummy aged rye. I'm 3/4 through the bottle and only put water in it for the first time last night. It opens up the rye to the point that it tastes much stronger, even though the proof is lower. Before yesterday I had thought, 4R is so smooth anyway, and this bottle definitely is, even at 62%, so why in the world would I add water? But, it's better with it, and I'll finish the bottle this way. If you get it, please try it once with water- I tried 1 part water to 6 parts nectar - and see what you think. I think it takes some of the sweetness out of it that comes with high proof, and lets the rye shine.

Last night had WTRB, TPS 4R OBSK, some JPS18, and Willett 5 year rye. I had hoped the rye would be a good mixer, but it's opening up unexpectedly and becoming one of my favorites to have neat. The JPS18 was better when I first opened it; now it's showing some nasty dirt flavors. So 2 surprises.

I just picked up a 5, as the 3 is disappearing quickly. The 3 was a terrific Manhattan, assumed the 5 would be the same. I'll be a little more thoughtful when I get to opening it, per your comments. Thanks for the heads up.

Hey, no problem. The trouble is, it's ALSO an excellent mixer :) It made the best old-fashioned I've ever had, by a country mile.

Trying to clean up a few partial bottles to make room for some new stuff.. never seems to work.

Working on a few Willett's from the old days.... "Malt Bomb" and "Old Fuss and Feathers". These were really sweet picks by Bill and Jake..... very different from the more recent Willett offerings. Huge sweet, complex whiskeys .... and ones that sold for under $40....

Started out the evening with JBB and Coke with my Pizza dinner. Afterwards moved on to my OWA for dessert. Now, KCSB for a much needed nightcap.

Last night started out with some OYO Wheat Whiskey to get through the Xavier/Dayton game, as well as to drown my sorrows/angst/anger (again) over not getting a ticket this time. Then it was TPS OWA to celebrate the Xavier win! After that, watched a movie with some friends and drank some mead from Columbus, and the night was capped with a Manhattan made with Jefferson's Rye. Good night!

My wife and I went to a fundraiser last night and I was pleasantly surprised to see Angel's Envy at the bar. After the event we had some friends over and I ended the evening with a couple of pours of Centennial. A very nice evening.

I just realized that my current desktop bottle is the first bottle of Lot B I bought 3 years ago, from a now-defunct little shop in Dallas. The price tag on it reads "$49.99".

Had several more pours after those and a great chat with Paul, Joel and Bradley. Made the morning start a little slow. That pork roast finally finished around 1pm today after 18 hours. It made for a great dinner tonight. Will have to keep the weber around!

A change from a heavy wheater Saturday with some WT Rye and now some OGD 114. Both proving again you can't measure whiskey pleasure by cost.

Dagummit!

Sipping on a really good Louisville Rebel Yell 90 proof. Great label, story, and all that good stuff. The store I got it from had several others. That I remember. Unfortunately, I'll be danged if I can remember where that store was!!
