Just went for it and grabbed a Jefferson Presidential Select 18 yo.

Thanks to Tico, I had an old faux tax strip ND Bourbon de Luxe show up today. We also sampled a few quick pours while he was here.

How do you like the Bourbon de Luxe? I bought a bottle two weeks ago and am finding it rather enjoyable (my first taste of ND juice).

How much duty did you have to pay to customs, if any?

354 Danish Kroner which is around 60 Dollars. I had one more bottle of white spirits to declare. This might sound like a lot but it's not as some bottlings were gifts and the others were 25-50% of the price they would cost in Denmark. First time I had to pay EVER, but I guess they didn't let me pass as the customs had trainess with them. They were nice and charged everything as it was 40% :-), and I am always a patriot and likes to support my country :-)

(more than I like to support some local importers who are the reason for the high prices here)

Couple of gems today, at least in my book.

Lot B

FR 09 Mariage

Weller 12yr

Vintage 17yr Bourbon

I'm really excited about the Weller, but not because of the usual reasons. I'm excited because it appears that it has made it into the state finally through normal wholesale channels. I no longer have to lug multiples of it back from when I travel, I can lug other stuff in it's place!!

Found a dusty OCPR. The owner wasn't in, but I'm planning on going back to ask him if he has any more in the back.

Picked up a 4RLE SB 2012 and a E.H. Taylor Barrel Proof. I tried the latter on Friday at the GBS get-together and liked it very much, even if it is half aged Stagg for the same price. Not sure I will be buying multiple bottles, though.

Great description Dave! It reminds me of a younger Stagg as the proof is a bit lower and the color not as deep. I look forward to a side by side between those two (knowing there really isn't a loser!)

2 @ 4R Mariage 2009

Deposited in nice, cool basement storage, and I probably won't open one until cooler seasons arrive.

Out of town working and bourbon shopping. Funny how coastal towns on the west coast tend to carry single malts rather than bourbon. However, I did buy a 2011 Sazerac and two 2010 William Larue Wellers!

My BIL from Indiana gifted me a Village Bottle's Private Selection of Knob Creek. Comes in a cool little wood box, too. Thanks, bro.

VOB BIB. Purchased about a month ago at Binny's, and I gotta say, it's a showing a bit one-note. Kinda boring at the moment.
