savagehenry
There is a 147 proof 18 year Bowman? I thought both Bowmans released around that proof were 17 years old. Both were a little hot for my taste.Yes it was a TPS barrel that came out last October.
c2walker
Yes it was a TPS barrel that came out last October.Interesting. It's difficult to keep track of these things.I know of three 18 year olds: Gift Shop (138.6), TPS 1 (137.9), and TPS 5 (140)And then two 17 year olds: Small Batch (147.5) and TPS (147.7)And then a 19 year old: TPS (143.4)What are the distill and bottling dates on yours savagehenry? higgins
Had a 6-year-old BIB face-off last night. Heaven Hill won by a nose over Barton, but there are no losers in that competition.
squire
Had some Barton in my coffee while watching the snow flurries this morning.
macdeffe
1yo cask sample from Las Vegas Distillery around 62.5% which was the filling strength. Doesnt remind me at all of other young whiskies I have tried, but much more like a real straight bourbon. Looking forward to taste the cask again at 2yoSteffen
bourbonandbacon
had a pour of blantons at a restaurant last night. didnt make me want to run out and buy a bottle, but it was a nice change of pace from my usual MM order at an italian place

SFS
A sample of a vatting of two different A. Bowman Virginia Whiskeys. Specifics were undocumented at the time of the (somewhat inadvertent?) mixing. Mighty tasty though, and fairly high proof. Added half an ice cube, and am now getting some butterscotch candy, small amounts of baking spices, and a very long finish. smknjoe
How are you halving your ice cubes? Just filling a tray half way?...been on a Four Roses kick. I think I'll have more.
unclebunk
FR1B for me too this afternoon. Several racks of ribs will be done shortly and then more bourbon than I'll probably need tonight. Should be fun!
squire
The neighborhood kids are excited to actually see snow twice in the same year. Yeah, more Barton, but I pour it into the coffee.
SFS
How are you halving your ice cubes? Just filling a tray half way? No, I have an icemaker that makes those infernal half circles. I just throw one into a clean kitchen towel, and strike it with the handle of a heavy knife. If it doesn't divide roughly evenly, I adjust the pour to suit the ice.
