I wonder about the batch 3 being redistributed, around here the batch 4 just came out,but also one other place a bit north of here got 5 cases of the batch 3 in...??? Of course only 3 where left, which hopefully I will be the proud parent of one of them..(through a fellow sb'er). Not really sure how that works, maybe the distributer's release it when they want to?

Called in a favor and picked one up.

These ECBP's ain't my bag baby so this one is going to Dawn who was just a wee bit excited. :)

Color: Dark....duh.

Nose: Rich oak and fresh leather. Plenty of cinnamon spice and just the slightest hint of peppermint. For 132.4 proof, the ethanol is buried. Very wood forward.

Palate: Spicy hot entry with hot, chili pepper, black pepper, allspice, and more cinnamon. The wood really pops here and is dominating the palate. Not overly drying though which is a welcomed change from previous batches. It's big and bold. A touch of water brings out even more wood (not surprisingly) which I wasn't sure was possible. The spices get shoved to the back of the palate as the toasted oak notes have taken over.

Finish: Long, lasting oak tannins and fresh sawdust. Chewy leather and just a touch of bitter cocoa. Dry.

Rating: These ECBP's are woody beasts, good Lord! This just isn't my bag baby. I think most will dig this one, especially the termites. The wood just dominates every aspect of this pour. Too unbalanced for my palate/liking.

Good notes Josh. Yeah, I agree, ECBP is bold, woody crap. Send the bottle to yours truly for proper disposal!

It appears there is a lot of love for ECBP shown from the number of posts.

Not for me. Pretty meh as indicated in my above notes.

I'm in the minority though.

Indeed you are. But that's what's cool about this brown liquid. One mans "meh" is another mans ah-ha!

so guys, how do all the batches rank in your opinion? from my recollection batch1 is supposed to be the best, batch3 is pretty close (and also more similiar to batch1 than batch2). what about batch4? may have to stock up blind and would appreciate shared experiences ;)

I finally got my case of bottles (3) I ordered from the gift shop this past January. Now I can finish of my batch 1 bottle with no fear.

Sort of surprised that it has the retail ECBP label and is 66.6 proof. I'm thankful to finally have some backups though. Thanks for the free, semi-cross-country, hand delivery!

Any news/insights on ECBP batch V release? Wasn't it scheduled for May-ish?

Does anyone have a rundown on each batch & proof? Maybe make It a sticky?

didn't really want to dig through 107 pages of posts, hence a sticky. I think that would be convenient for everyone, especially new people to the forum.

What's the fun in that then :)

two pages back:

You may have seen or be thinking of batch 4 at 132.4 or there are some gift shop versions at other proofs. Otherwise AFAIK:

1--134.2

2--137

3--133.2 (66.6%-the "Devil's Batch")

4--132.4

Not confirmed yet since I don't have it physically with me, but believe it is:

5--134.8 (67.4%)

Found two separate stores in DC selling ECBP for $99.99. They both seem to specialize in charging 3-5x retail for high end collectibles, haha. Jefferson 21 for $399. GTS for $500. Packers Heritage $300. Guess they just wait until the right rich guy comes along.

I'd love to try ECPB, but I can't stomach $100.

There are a lot of lobbyists with expense accounts in DC.

Who tell their wives they paid that much for a bottle without mentioning the young lady who, ahem, delivered it.

The ECBP was my white whale this year. I phone stalked one of the bourbon hosts at the Louisville distillery every day for a month until I managed to get a bottle.

You should talk to 393foureyedfox about his quest for ECBP.
