There is no "classic" ECBP. It was first introduced and released last year some time around April and there were 3 different batches released last year. Availability varies greatly depending on where you are. I only saw batch 1 on shelves for about 2 days in August of last year here in Houston. If you read through this thread you should get an idea of where and when it rolled out last year.

Either way they let me leave my number so ill be happy if they call.

Haven't seen a label change on it, not saying the distributor is wrong, but all the bottles I have gotten my hands on say Elijah Craig Barrel Proof. Cask strength does not appear on the label.

almost finished with my batch 3. damn its been good. got a bottle the other day from drink up ny. wasn't sure which batch it would be until it arrived. looks like it is batch 2. i would love to get my hands on batch 1 and taste them all.

from what i've read, batch 1 was highly regarded, then 3, then 2

That's how I would vote as well and had drank all three and have all three bunkered. But we would be splitting hairs. I would be happy with any.

Man, there ain't much difference between the 3, IMO. Like Hugh states, "splitting hairs". Regardless, of what release you have, you have a good one.

I agree with these guys. I haven't tasted batch 3 but between 1 and 2, I would be happy with either. There's not that much difference between them.

Lucky day, local ABC just put out the only case they got of batch 4. My brother and I scooped up all three bottles. Anybody else done a tasting on it?

There isn't a loser among them - I'd bet on any given day, I might lean more towards one than another, but all are powerful whiskies (and the value . . . well, sounds like they figured that part out with batch 4).

That sounds odd - the latest batch 4 is 132.4 I think. 114 instantly snaps OGD into my head.

I've been drinking daily since I got it a couple of days ago. Really like it but didn't do a SBS with previous releases. With ice (~30% by volume) and fully melted before drinking (this is the normal way I drink all ECBP), it is like the others with full flavors. I think it is a tad more mild than the other where the alcohol may be a little more smoother and a tad less thick and syrupy. This is not in a bad way and maybe even in a better way but not sure yet, but perhaps a little more refine compare to the other. Again splitting hairs. hahaha

Maybe it's just my eyes, but I feel like batch 4 is the first one I've gotten that is a bit lighter in color than the rest. Anybody else notice that too?

Mine just arrived turned out it was batch 3 not 4. So guess it was in a warehouse for a bit. So thing actually leaked a few oz in shipping over the course of one day. anyone ever have any EC cork fail. Is it the neck and mouth shape? Whole box and my cubical smell really great right now though
