Meruck, I see you use the family-size Glencairn. How does that effect the nose compared to the regular Glencairn?

It is indeed a Glencairn, I was lucky enough to have my brother send both flavors as a birthday gift. As to the question of nose, how does the term, "snoot full" strike you?

I like the feel of the larger but the smaller seems more appropriate at times.

I like the standard Glencairn the most, but have smaller and larger nosing glasses if the desire strikes.

Glencairn Crystal, Ltd designed and produces the Glencairn Whisky glass commonly used and referred to as the Glencairn glass. They also produce a glass they call a Mixer Glass. Some retail outlets refer to that as a Glencairn Wide Bowl glass.

It's just not fair. He's finishing a bottle and most of us haven't even seen one yet. Of course, you do go through it quickly when drinking from that Canadian whiskey Glencairn. Which makes it even more un-American.

That is a gift shop bottle. Been available there for quite some time. The wide release version is 134 proof and in a different bottle.

Having tried and enjoyed both, don't pass up on this one.

The proper name is the Canadian Glencairn Whiskey glass, So Its a whiskey glass from Canada, not a glass for Canadian Whiskey. That's my story and I'm sticking to it

I don't want to get into a pissing match with an esteemed fellow SBer, but the box mine came in says "Official Canadian Whisky Glass by Glencairn Crystal, Scotland (my emphasis). This offical glass was created by Glencairn Crystal Studio, based on close consultation with the Canadian whisky industry. The design delivers whisky to the tip of the tongue for the fullest taste experience. The slightly larger size is versatile whether serving whisky neat or in mixed drinks."

The way I read that, the glass is from Scotland, not Canada, and is designed for the enjoyment of Canadian whisky, hence the maple leaf embossed in the base.

The PHC 1st edition is one of my favorites. I was lucky enough to try one bottle. Wish I could have gotten another. Great stuff.

Too much talking and not enough porn in this thread... ORVW is not technically BP, but it's advertised "as close to barrel proof as possible."

These will keep me busy tonight.

Mix a half ounce of each together, I'll bet it comes out nice.

Sounds pretty good. I'll give it a shot. I might even try it with OWA instead of ORVW the second time around.

While its not a high "barrel proof" it does say it is the "original" barrel proof, and oh my my, its truly "fine bourbon". Especially out of my Whisk(e)y glass from Canada, designed in Scotland.

post-9455-14489818940354_thumb.jpg date the bottle to 1977 ish
