Bought a bottle of Glenmorangie "The Lasanta" today. I've never had any of the Glenmorangie line before. Was tempted to get the regular 10yr but ultimately decided on the Lasanta as it is sherry cask finished. I'm normally a Islay guy so I want to see the difference.

What did you think of this one. I really prefer the Quinta Ruban from this line, but I often like sherried bits and tend to really like Glenmo drams.

Well, I should have purchased the regular Glenmorangie first to have a baseline to compare the other finished releases to.

I like the Lasanta just fine. But it doesn't "wow" me in any way. I think in time I will pick up a bottle of the regular 10yr and then eventually the Quinta Ruban as the port cask influence sounds potentially very tasty.

They have a holiday sampler pack with full bottle of Glenmo 10 along with 50mL of Lasanta, Quinta and Nectar D'or. And another of strictly 50mL of the four to try them all.

I'm not a scotch drinker normally but like the Quinta and plain 10yr.

I recently saw a gift pack of Glenmorangie 10 and the three finished 12's, all in 100ml bottles I think. Not sure if it was new or was left over from last year but seems like a good way to experiment with the basic line.

For me the Nectar D'Or is head and shoulders above the rest of the line from a QPR. The Signet is one of the best after-dinner drams I've ever tried, but I won't be buying my own bottle any time soon.

I concur about the Nectar D'Or but lately it has been priced nearly twice as high as the other two. And I enjoy comparing them. Never tried the Signet.

I haven't priced them recently, but I do recall seeing it at $65-70 compared to the $42-45 I often see the other options. I rarely purchase GlenMo though, so I may have mistaken the price. At that price the D'Or competes with Balvenie 15 and that's a fight the Balvenie wins.

I've been torturing myself all morning with the idea of purchasing some more Longmorn 17 year sherry cask, but I really need to keep the funds free for some other options to come. These are good problems to have.

Picked up some Masterson's Straight Rye 10 yr form the LCBO. Clearance price of $75 (down $35). Tasted it last night and I liked it quite bit. I may buy one more but would never pay full price.

Today I picked up the last JW Green in the area, just for safe keeping, and then decided to bunker an Aberlour A'bunadh. I think I've only had the Ab12 before so this should be a good experiment @ cask strength.

Got off work at 11PM and decided to head over to Liquor Barn and browse the scotch aisle. Went back and forth between a few and thought about trying something new. But in the end I purchased my old favorite, regular Laphroaig 10yr. :yum:

A couple extra of the Powers John's Lane, one for me and one for a fellow member that truly deserves it.

Couldn't resist what I though was a fair price ($39.99) on Redbreast 12yr, so I grabbed two.

Damn! Well done. $58 in these parts.

Dewar's 12 yo - I like this on its own, but also use it as a base that I enhance with any number of other single malts.

I will probably be castigated or ignored for this, but yesterday I wanted to drink some scotch, not having to meter it slowly out of a $100 bottle. So I bought a bottle of plain old Grant's, and it is damned tasty for the price.

Tim

PS - My first choice would have been Teacher's Highland Cream, but they apparently do not carry it in my state ABC stores.
