Since its intro, I've not seen much EC21 at all. I'm not convinced it's moving at those kind of prices. The one I saw was alone on the shelf & the store owner said he wasn't going to carry "much stuff like that (EC21) because it just doesn't sell". Hmmmm

In addition to the high price, I am not certain that it fits the profile of the typical bourbon drinker or, even, bourbon enthusiast for that matter. I wonder how it compares to EC18.

Passed on a PVW23 at "retail." Couldn't stomach paying $280 out the door for a bottle when I could get the PVW20 for 1/2 the price.

I doubt I could tell them apart in a blind tasting.

My issue is that I've never heard anyone say that they liked the 23 year more. If I have heard it once or twice, I've heard 10x as many people say they like the 20 year more.

Several Jefferson's Reserve Very Old have started showing up in VA ABC as single barrel offerings. I've seen barrel B-64 and B-29. I passed on them just because I've never been the biggest Jefferson's fan. Anybody had any experience with their single barrels?

Are they age stated (15 years)?

Although they reportedly were once apon a time now they are a mystery whiskey. Actually, according to the website they are a blend of mystery whiskies.

Jefferson's Reserve: The first bourbon released by Jefferson's, the Reserve is a complex, yet balanced combination of 3 different bourbons, including whiskey aged up to 20 years in American Oak. The result is a medium-weight bourbon with a dry, robust palate that fills with the mouth with flavors of roasted corn, caramel, toffee and oak.

Four new NDP's that I can't even recall the names now. Pretty packaging, all 86 proof, $45 - $55, and onw even said on the front, "Distilled in Indiana". Should have taken a pic.

I have seen a private barrel selection in ATL that the liquor store stated was 15 years (on shelf sticker) but not on the bottle itself. Or at least I didn't see it on the bottle.

One way to test the integrity of the store is politely point out the whisky is not actually 15 years old and see if they take the sign down.

Nope... same as regular bottle, just with a state of Virginia sticker on it with the barrel number. I asked a guy today and he said he thought it was basically the same thing. A friend bought a bottle and said he though the single barrel was discernibly better. I trust his opinion over the ABC guys, but still leery about Jefferson.

The usual CEHT lineup: SB, BP & Rye :22:

Has anyone else noticed the CEHT's have migrated to the glass cases and are now being touted as and priced as equivalents to BTAC/Van Winkle? Happening here left and right for example saw the rye at $129.99. As I gather, the distributors are now giving these out as consolation prizes to their accounts who get little or none of the others and "suggesting" that these are just as desirable and coveted by the public.

Yep. Seen that. I just laughed. $129.99 for all iterations of CEHT. That's what I thought too. Consolation prizes. Geez. C'mon people.

Not really a pass but when I swung by a shop to pick up a WLW I asked if he could give me a stagg too and he said "one bottle per person, and that's being generous" I was like....

Not around these parts...yet. Nothing surprises me anymore in terms of what some of those guys will attempt. So far, I've not seen any of them over $75.99 which is about where they were this time last year. I keep saying I'm going to give the rye a chance but talk myself into other things with more bang for the buck. If not careful, I'll commit the EC18 sin again....keep waiting until it's no longer on a shelf.

Next year they'll probably make you split a bottle with another customer. Maybe cut it in half?

Passed on 4R 125th LESmB for $129.99. It was a bit hard walking out on it...considering a return visit.

While a fine bottle, $130 is way overpriced for that. Got a second bottle over the weekend for $80.
