squire
Hefty fine at the least. On the other note a retailer has absolutely no say in what a purchaser decides to do with the purchase.
smokinjoe
That's a no-no. You will go to the clink if caught (many places.)
squire
The offense is transporting in an open container where ever located in the vehicle. There will still be charges if the trunk is searched and just a suspicion of alcohol is probable cause. Not something I want to have to explain to a judge anyway, especially in a jurisdiction that views fines as a source of revenue.
smknjoe
What if you we're to put it in your trunk before driving away? Edited November 20, 2013 by smknjoe
GaryT
Thankfully for SmokinJoe and the rest of us in Georgia, they've used some common sense here:"The law prohibits anyone from consuming any alcoholic beverage, or possessing any open alcoholic beverage container in the passenger area of any motor vehicle which is on the roadway or shoulder of any public highway."http://www.gahighwaysafety.org/highway-safety/impaired-driving-laws/

I understand the intent no matter the details, but to not even allow transport in the trunk seems too far to me. You couldn't even take a bottle over to a buddy's house with that wording. Or take a new bottle, and then take it home after drinking some. Seems to encourage more drinking if you can't take it home with you.
smknjoe
I think it's the same here in TX (as Ga. and Va.) Alabama has the most draconian alcohol laws I've ever seen. I know "a guy" who got a DUI without having driven a car at all, not for the previous 20 hours, and was at home! ...anyway, I passed on everything today since I'm pretty stocked up. T Comp
Having made the Chicago to Bardstown commute just a few times ...all three states in travel do allow for open containers in the non passenger space. Indiana even allows for the center console as long as it is locked. Now in Squire's state there is no state law at all on open containers...which leaves room I imagine for plenty of local ordinances. squire
We have some open container local ordinances Thad so tread carefully.
393foureyedfox
wow, I never knew it was illegal anywhere to have an open bottle IN YOUR TRUNK. But, alcohol does seem to have an abundance of stupid laws that go with it.I had always heard that, in KY at least, in your trunk was fine. Who hasn't taken an open bottle of something to a friend's house for them to try?

BlackPrairie
I passed an EC21 for $209 and ECBP for $79. These are two expressions I'd really wanted to try since I am fond of the EC12 and especially the EC18 when it was $45.

KCJason1
Passed on PVW on craiglist. 300 for ORVW up to 950 for the 23. No thanks.Just found this gem on my local craigslist."I have a 10 yr and a 12 year Pappy Van Winkle for sale. The seals have not been broken. Even though they have not been opened they are being sold as a collectible not for consumption. You must have a valid ID showing that you are 21 in order to bid.10 yr is $25012 yr is $325"I informed him he is an idiot and there is no such thing as Pappy 10 or 12... haha.. I feel so snobbish when I tell people that!I also told him his prices suck and then told him retail was 35/50... Loser
matthewdc
Passed on several extremely overpriced PVW/VWs. First store wanted $275 for a PVW15 and $400 for a PVW20. Second store wanted Craigslist prices: $250 for a ORVW10 and $399 for a Lot B--both stores in DC.

jwacky
I wonder why he would care what happens to them if he gets his price? If you're talking about them not being for consumption, that's just a "loophole" on sites like that. You're not selling the alcohol, you're selling the bottle... see? Same thing happens with tobacco online. The box and bands are for sale, the tobacco is not for consumption. jwacky
Try to explain that to the BATF.Hey, I'm just saying that's WHY people do it, not that I think it's an actual, legal move. It follows the general rules of Craigslist/ebay/wherever just enough to let it slide... I guess. Either way, tobacco (or booze) is not something I typically look to purchase from a non-retailer, just no telling how it's been stored. That's a bit more of a worry with cigars, but it's not like you have recourse if something is wrong with the product. Tobacco is dry? Why do you care? You bought them "for the bands". Eskwar
Passed on EW7 86 - Never tried it, plus i'm sitting on some HH6 BIB (~$10), and just finished an EWBIB. Plus, I was out of cash, and this time of year has given my credit cards and my whiskey budget some vigorous exercise already.
