Borrowing from a post by jbur what would y'all consider as the disappointment of the year Bourbon.

Since I'm new it's Jim Beam Devils Cut as well as any and all NDP's being less than truthful about their products.

For me, the biggest disappoint was looking for single barrel selections of OWA, and coming up empty handed. Thanks to fellow enthusiasts around here and their posts, I very rarely pick up anything that don't like.

Devil's Cut was launched in 2011 so I think you are a few years behind (but you did say you are new). NDP's being less truthful? There are a lot more NDP's around these days, but can't say they lie any more than usually.

For me, this was the year that limited releases like BTAC or 4R went from being hard to find to you had to be extremely lucky to find at all.

Not a single bottling but rather a company announcement. BT's announcement that they are discontinuing AAA10 and OC10.

For me it's ECBP. I know lots of folks love it, but to me it's just not good. I'd gladly trade my 2 bottles for something I can drink!

proliferation of honey, cherry, apple pie, magpie; but then the bourbon guys need to make $$ from the masses to afford to produce the good stuff for us.

Dads hearing PVW is valuable and buying it just to flip it.

Confession: my dad waited in line for me in AZ for PVW20 and he and my uncle ended up being #3 and #4 in line. He got my 20 and himself a 23. He flipped the 23 on craigslist that night.

My dad's an asshole.

Hahaha. At least you got a 20 year. Maybe I'm buzzed but I'm laughing so hard about that. Mainly because my dad's a teetotaler and would never stand in line for me to get booze. He would never understand.

I wasn't aware the 8 year (86 proof) still had signs of life. There was a thread back in 2011 that touched on it going away. http://www.straightbourbon.com/forums/showthread.php?15245-Old-Heaven-Hill-BiB-vs-Old-Heaven-Hill-8-y-o

I'm very disappointed that my local county went from a lottery type system for allocations to first come, first served on email. And the emails inevitably come in the middle of a work day, and when I'm at work, I only check my personal email every 2-4 hours. Under that system I will never have a chance. Granted, at this point, having tried all the Pappy's and BTAC, WLW is the only allocated product I am really interested in, but I find this very annoying nevertheless.

Larceny was a big disappointment for me. It seemed to get good reviews on here, but after giving it three different tries, it just did not like it.
