Red One
Congrats, Doug. I've been a manager in health care for nearly 30 years and we need quality nurses more than anything else. Quality care is delivered by a great nursing staff. Hope you find a nice fit for your career.Back to subject, having a bit of Blanton's tonight with some ice cream! Nice combo! KyleCBreese
Blanton's originally didn't do it for me, but this bottle has really opened up well and it is real nice. Not sure that it is worth the extra $20 over ETL.

smokinjoe
I continue to be impressed with Henry McKenna Single Barrel BIB.Me, too. I'm beginning to think that a Heaven Hill bourbon at 10 yr and 100 proof may be their sweet spot. When they're on, they are big time, ON.Should have mentioned that I am thoroughly enjoying a Benchmark Single Barrel on a couple of cubes, on a warm and muggy Georgia evening. Kalessin
Congratulations, Fox-Doug!!! Well done!I finished up a project at work that was really getting to me, I've been dry for what feels like weeks except for a Jack Daniels on rocks at a cousin's wedding last weekend.Tonight, I started with a Manhattan mad with new WTR101, Cocchi vermouth de Turin, four Luxardo cherries, and a splash of Grade B maple syrup, juuuuust the way I like it. I do wish the new WTR101 were a little more like the old WTR101.While watching the Kings/Rangers game, I cracked open the WT Tradition that I bought recently, to determine if I need to get more. Tasting wasn't really working, so I'll have to try it again soon. At $120/bottle, buying more is something not to be entered into lightly.I finished off the last half-shot from an OWA. Bottle to the recycle bin, gotta look around for more, as all the Weller seems to be getting bought up in MA.Finally, some FRYL, accompanied by fresh popcorn, as we go to overtime in the game.Good relaxing tonight, I'll be in great shape for documentation writing tomorrow. thebwood
VOB, BIB. No 6 year age statement. I know this forum gives Saz a lot of crap about the age statement (and they should), but I decided to go out and try it out for myself. To me, this is a decent standard bourbon expression. It has the classic caramel toffee elements, with a little more rye and spice than I expected. Water brings out more vanilla in the nose, and calmed down the young spiciness a bit. In any event, I think the price point ($15) is about right.

Let's hope it stays that way. This whiskey has always been a great pour at a nice price.

HD 335
A weird night for me... started with a small pour of ECBP (less than 1oz), then went to scotch, 2ozs of Aberlour 16 that was a sample from a friend. Went back to bourbon pouring about 1.5oz of EWSB 2003 and then switching back to scotch for 1oz of Laphroaig Quarter cask, also a sample. Now finishing the night with a little more EWSB. mbroo5880i
Drinking John J. Bowman Single Barrel. I have been a little disappointed with this bottle but tonight it has been really good. It tastes like a whiskey-heavy Manhattan but without the Vermouth. Nice cherry and spice finish. I wish they would list the barrel number on the bottles. El Vino
Nice pour of Barterhouse. About half-way through the bottle. Enjoying it, but tonight it is tasting a bit thin. So I added a splash of Dickel 14 to add some body. Call me nuts, bit it kinda tastes like ECBP.
