You did?!? I can't believe you did what everyone else did too!!

Good Job... Stuff is a rip off... Not limited at all...

it may be a 'rip-off' in that its not as rare as its purported to be, but I challenge you to find another 20 year bourbon for $80 that aint too hard to find.

It's not my cup of tea but it would ha e to be well over $100 for me to see it as a ripoff.

Passed on an Old Blowhard for $181. I purchased one when it first came out and while it's good, it's not $181 good. I'm not really sure what a 26 year old bourbon should be worth, but I don't like extra aged bourbons enough to pay this much. Barterhouse at $75......maybe.....not more than twice that amount.

I wouldn't pay half that. Before these old, tired, woody whiskys got fashionable distillers couldn't sell them for any price and just dumped them into the regular brands mix.

Of all people who might subscribe to the theory that "older Is better".....

Weller SR, surprising as a couple guys in the aisle were grabbing some and I learned some valuable info. One was telling the other that the SR is "the shit" and all he will drink as its made by Pappy Van Winkle and he saves over 100.00/bottle opting for WSR vs Pappy for the "same stuff". I asked about W12 but it didn't register so we all went our merry ways.

The ignorant are all too happy to dispense their 'knowledge'. Id have been too tempted to make up some crap story about something else on the shelf just to f#@k with him and see if he fell for that too.....did you hear that Larceny was just relabeled PoH?!?! It's the shit! Get it before everyone else figures it out!!!

That is why you are wise and I am just a plebe who is still learning. I'm a fast learner, though, and will not be seeking out any future Orphan Barrels. "Fool me once...."

Not bourbon, but saw a JPS 25 Year Rye, $200... pass. Then saw a PH PoH $110... pass. And finally a JPS 25 year that was price reasonably for JPS releases at $140... pass. However it was gone shortly afterwards so it caught someone's eye.

I passed on Barterhouse (which is not in my market) many times before I found one for $65 so I pulled the trigger. I don't care who made it, now old it is or how many bottles are in existence; I was presented it blind against Michter's 20 and a few other, way more expensive whiskies, and my shnozz picked it out as a favorite. To me, it's a good value. No, it will not blow you over with flavor, but I appreciate it for what it is.

Saw the new Rare Breed the other day, but it was at Total Whine for $34. Screw TW, screw that price. :P

You'll find quite a few guys here who love the extra aged bourbons, and you didn't know until you tried it for yourself. That is the only way YOU'LL learn.

Count your blessings. My prices for WTRB now range from $36 - $39 and they aren't going down anytime soon. But then again since WT101 is now $24.99 it's all relative.

WTRB is between $40-$50 in NJ. Would love to see it for $34.

You are absolutely correct, which is why I took the plunge. As you said, one must learn for themselves, and I firmly believe that. As much as I would like to save money by going by what others say, it's no substitute for forming my own opinions and tastes through experience and experimentation. Since I've learned that my palate can change from night to night and that bottles can change character from beginning to end, I don't regret buying full bottles of JPS 21, Barterhouse, and Old Blowhard so I can fully take the time to understand them. What I've learned is that I do indeed prefer younger bourbons in the 6-12 yr range. I don't mind having those other three around for an occasional change of pace, but I don't see myself ever being tempted by extra aged bourbons again. Now, I did revisit PVW15 last night after not having had any since the Super Bowl (had to celebrate the 'Hawks win ya know) and found that I do still really really like that one. So maybe 15 yr wheated is my upper limit.

Weird.....TW here has WTRB for $28.99 whereas other places have it for $36+. TW also still has WT101 for $18.99. I keep stocking up thinking the prices are going up but they keep restocking at the same price. How long will it last?

Why would you "stock up?" If anything, as the distilleries pump out more and more juice and places like TW keep expanding and suing everyone and their grannie, prices should drop.

I haven't been looking that much, but the new batch of RB is hasn't really worked it's way into this market quite yet. Still all 03 which I wouldn't pay more than $30 for. A 750 of WT101 was like $16 or so at TW. Ok....

Why would you "stock up?"

Because lots of people in other markets are seeing price increases on these and others and at least one company is on record saying that price increases are coming due to increased demand.

My new price on Blanton's is $59 or $69 depending on which store I'm visiting but since I don't enjoy them it really doesn't matter.

Really wanted to try the Stagg Jr based on everyone's reviews, but not for $70

What's Alchemist, besides a 92 proof 12yr old straight bourbon for 110 bones?

Kinda makes EC12 look like an absolute steal! ! Just sayin

Left some OWA "Handles" on the shelf today. Hadn't seen any in a while, but I've got a couple of unopened 750's.
