Good news - I do my weekly rounds seeking Bernheim's Wheat and find the 7yo.

Bad news - it's $49 - pass.

Also saw EW1783 ($24) and EWWL ($22) - pass. Blanton's has risen to $40 (still below FRSB).

I guess I'm hunkering down

Hawaii pricing always baffles me. How everything can be so expensive there, yet Blantons ( a bourbon most of us consider overpriced already, at $55 here in KY where it is made) is $40 there. How does something get cheaper when you ship it 3-4000 miles?

Most of us? I think its fairly priced and damn tasty to boot.

The Hawaii distributor must have a great contract on it. There really is more to pricing than shipping distance. Difficult to believe, I'm sure.

Passed up Booker's 25th at $140. Torn on this one, as I know it is priced too high for what it is, but it is by all accounts a darn good bourbon. And I have had virtually zero success on other limited editions like FR, BTAC, etc. For now, a pass, but that could change if I lose my impulse control.

I got a bottle of the Booker's 25th. Very fine bourbon, cool packaging, but I did not find it to be head and shoulders above the regular stuff. Glad I got mine for $100, but don't think I'd buy another one at that price. Take that all with a grain of salt; your taste buds, desires and spending tolerances are presumably different than mine. Just my 2 cents.

If it makes you feel better about getting it I still pass up a bottle at $199.00

Saw that my local Costco in SSF carries the standard Bookers for $49.99 which is a good price for my area. I still have about 1/3 left and love using to make my Old Fashioned but I have way too many other bottles to work through. Also some some Jim Beam Single Barrel there, forgot what the price was.

Passed on a few bottles of ECBP, 5th release. Must save resources and wifely goodwill in the scenario I have a shot at a FRSB2014.

Passed on some Tin Cup. Has anyone had it before? My local store owner was pushing it when I was in there.

Just another MGPI sourced bourbon. Looks like they've really stepped up their distribution.

Two bottles of Bookers 25 sitting on a shelf priced at $94, hmmmm should I buy one even though I have two, yes! No! ahhhh! better not.

So I passed.

EH Taylor Barrel Strength. I was intrigued, but couldn't pull the trigger for $65 without tasting first. Other than the Tornado Surviving, I haven't heard much of anything positive about the EH Taylor line. Did I miss out on something good?

I am relatively new to bourbon but the EH Taylor Barrel Strength is what really reeled me in. I think it is pretty solid. Since I have had EHTBS I have had a lot of other barrel strength bourbons but the EH is still my favorite. It is long gone in Maryland where I live now but if I ever came across another bottle I would snatch it up in a heart beat.

You should probably get that and send it to me. Or go back and get it for yourself. Either one

Everybody's tastes are different, but the rye and the BP are the winners of the CEHT line for me. Honestly not turned on by the Tornado. Given the current market I would be a buyer at $65.

Love all of the CETH offerings. Now that prices are moving up don't buy as often but all are great. IMHO.

Saw and passed on a 1.75 bottle of Eagle Rare 10yr today. I have never come across it in that size bottle before.

The shape they chose for that looks like it would be a pain to pour.

Let me confirm for you that is 100% the case, but it looks awesome to put out at a party at least.

Needs a two handed pour for sure!

I passed on a bottle of

Blowhard today ... I think I'm regretting it. Anyone here tried this? And or can talk me into going back tomorrow to get it?

This is definitely an embattled bourbon. Lots of opinions on here about it. General consensus, it is OK for a 26 year old bourbon, if you like extreme aged bourbons, lots of oak, etc. Most the negative comments surround the marketing and possibly questionable provenance. I bought it out of curiosity and quite frankly because I buy into the back story. I like to collect things and this seemed worthy of collecting. Is it the best bourbon I have ever had? Not even close, but when I sip it and imagine it sitting quietly in a barrel somewhere forgotten to time for a quarter century it ads a different level of enjoyment. For me it was worth the price of admission and I am glad to have it on my shelf for that odd moment when I want to take a momentary step back in time.
