The Black Tot
I bought a nice bottle of ETL when I saw a single bottle on the shelf, and yeah, it's great. But as sailor22 has mentioned, I'm annoyed because I can't go buy more bottles from the same batch. I'll have to roll the dice again the next time I see a bunch of them on a shelf together. Oh well, there are worse chores in life than getting through a less fantastic bottle of ETL Edited August 26, 2014 by The Black Tot
The Black Tot
I had skipped all RHF. Maybe I should try one.Yeah, I haven't been looking for it. I don't remember passing over it, but I probably did.I will be checking it out now.
bin31z
I thought I gave you the name of a store that had it? I saw that they had about 5 last time I was there.
sailor22
For me Elmer is rounder and sweeter while RHF is dryer and a bit more complex but both are equally welcome in my house. That squares with my general impressions. The exception being some retailer picks of RHF that brought a cherry like sweetness to play with the subtle dryness.

mark fleetwood
This can't be happening. Bobby Flay hasn't even pip-squeaked about ETL yet.
DBM
I don't understand the negative comments about lack of barrel numbers/designations on ETL, or any other single barrel for that matter. For the few mainstream labels that actually include a barrel number, I have rarely found that I can find another bottle of the same barrel when I'm ready to buy another one. FRSB and EWSB are perfect examples. For regularly moving product, it's not uncommon to see barrel numbers change weekly for stock on the shelf. The key for me is to align with a label that mostly succeeds and surprises (in a good way). A barrel number will only tell you what you likely already know... it's different than the last bottle.I've opened 3 bottles of ETL - one was good and two were great. I will keep buying with those odds.
squire
I think barrel info is there for marketing purposes. We care but I doubt most consumers are even remotely concerned.

Dave43
I found one lone bottle last week....the first I've seen in over a year. Felt like I won the lottery. I smirked when I read ETL was moving to BTAC...but now it has me wondering

The Black Tot
They SHOULD add it to the BTAC if it means we'd get a barrel proof version. But it's owned by Age Int, isn't it? - so it's probably more complicated than most of us would realize.I expect that most people's bunkers are filling now and ETL should be easier to find this fall. Time to roll to the next blackout.

fishnbowljoe
On to the next unobtainium... Quit complaining Tot. Y'all have more Weller 12 down in Texas than the rest of the country does combined. Except maybe for Georgia.
kjbeggs
Sadly, I had to resort to trading Weller 12 for standard ETL to get any.And now, it appears my trade bait has all but disappeared.

There you have it, Joe. You read it here first. Kjbeggs got the last W12 in Texas. Nothin' but tumbleweeds in the aisles now, and the odd drunk rattlesnake.
