What's it go for in your neck of the woods? $35 a good price?

i know people who would knock over their grandmas for some of it at most any price. $35 seems very reasonable. Ive seen one in the past year, and it was $35, but I left it, as its not really my thing.

There have been discussions about ETL out the ass on these boards over the past several months. Dozens of prices posted from all over the country included. If you're interested, just look em up. No need to start another thread on it. It just results in the same churning, of the same information, over and over and over again. How many times must one hear the same thing?!?!

Ok...looked at numerous threads and no prices were indicated. Just curious, sorry.

When its in stock for a few weeks here in Pa its $32.99 a bottle. You'll find cheaper in the regular states like Texas, maybe California, Kentucky, but it will be comparable to that price or higher most places. If I saw one and really wanted a bottle I'd pay 35, but I have I think 6 bottles I bought last year and stocked away. Anymore as everything Buffalo Trace sells seems to creep up in price every few weeks (They haven't been marketing and hyping that strategy of excuses to raise prices at all during the last year have they???) I find as ETL approaches $35 I will buy a 4 Roses Single Barrel all day EVERY day and get so much more complexity and ultimately delicious enjoyment for a few bucks more. When its on sale its $35.99 and that makes it an ETL killer for my tastes, and its ....always available, so none of the BT controlled scarcity to put up with. I know I know, I'm just being cynical but thats what I believe.

The only bottles I've actually seen in TX in the last year were commemorative at $34.99 (and very few of those).

specs lists it her $32.99, and Total Wine for $28.99, but it's always out of stock.

a year ago I could find it in the $30-35 range, so I'd say that's still a good price if you like it.

I would go with 4R Small Batch as something in the same category as ETL. They are both 90 proof and similar to me as far as nothing spectacular, but very balanced, easy to like bourbon. As far as $35 for ETL; I guess it's an ok price. That's about the limit on what I would pay for it. Back when I used to see it on shelves, it was around $29.99.

And old friend used to sell fiberglass insulation by the train car load to industrial clients. He gave his best price to a customer who said the competition had it for less. "Buy it from him," he said. "I would," said the customer, "but he's out of stock."

"Why didn't you say so?" replied my friend. "When I don't have it, I sell it for ten cents."

I, too, have taken advantage of Total Wines' great prices on bourbon they did not have.

Given all the variation of local taxes, laws, and distribution rules, these sorts of thread provide little meaningufl information.

It's been my experience that regardless of said variables you should expect no more than ~$10 difference in shelf prices in the con-US. So, I would argue that threads like this are invaluable to a bourbon newbie who sees that a local store just stocked some ETL at $60 each.

I'll sell you a UFO for $35:grin:, 'cause they're damn more UFO sighting in KY at the present than there are ETL sightings!

Runs at $95 down here in Australia.... and that's from our largest nationwide retailer. It goes up by around 10% everywhere else.

So, it sounds like ETL can be had for $30-35 + taxes + any distributor/retailer imposed mark-up.

I'm assuming I missed the ETL commemorative release in Texas due to being out of the country. Just before leaving I picked up the last Twin Liquors had at what was about $32 each if buying two or more.

The place on South Lamar at Bluebonnet had commemorative, $60 and change. I kept being polite on the phone as he explain it was "extremely allocated". Mentioning in case anyone is looking for a liquor store to avoid. Let the hipsters have it at that price.

Neither of the big chains in Austin ever had it as far as I can tell. No luck in Dallas two weeks ago. Didn't see in at the big downtown Houston store three weeks ago.

Yes, I think you missed it. It seemed to pop up around Houston in June/July.

But rule number one with the timing of whiskey releases is that there ARE no rules for the timing of whiskey releases!

I live is S.W. Florida.. My go to store got some ETL in a couple of weeks ago. I paid $37.99 for my first bottle then bought 6 additional bottles for $33.99 each.. The store was able to buy another case.. I may go back and get another 6 bottles. They are also trying to get in a case of ETL 93 Proof Commemorative bottling.. If they can get the case it will be a few dollars more per bottle..

I can find all the ETL I want in Virginia for about 31$ a bottle. However, I've yet to run across a single commemorative bottle.....which saddens me.
