I passed up Weller SR 1.75L and 750ml bottles, not bad prices either. Just one question, where are the other Wellers? :deadhorse:

According to a large regional retailer the OWA is now a "rare and allocated" bourbon and priced accordingly at $40. W12 actually IS rare and allocated now and not on the radar apparently for central IN.

I "passed" on a bunch of Van Winkle and BTAC (plus others) at a raffle today at a small independent store in Downtown Seattle. I didn't win so I technically did not have the opportunity to purchase, but when I saw the prices I refused to even drop my tickets into the bowls.

OFBB for $150 after taxes.

Elmer T Lee Commemorative for $200.

Handy for $250

Stagg for $300

PH8 for $205ish

ORVW10 for $300

Lot B for $400

PVW23 for $1000

Boy.....what an opportunity for the "winners". This, combined with the ridiculous markups on standard items at this store (such as Baby Saz for almost $100), have sealed the deal for me. I never, ever, need to set foot in this store again.

Why 100 for Baby Saz? We can get a ton of it here and we don't get anything special!!!

Left a couple of ECBP 140.2 at 90 each. Good but not that good. Should still be gone before Christmas.

Passed on some good stuff: an 11 year rose city liquors OBSK. A forum member highly recommended a previous OBSK they did but since this was new and I have a great OBSK open currently I passed. I also turned down a haz-mat ECBP and cask strength Maker's reluctantly because of exorbitantly high Washington prices.

Sad the see an ECBP for $128 today. I had to move along...

Where was that? I've seen a lot of ridiculous prices in SF but that calls for a visit.

Made my last stop in a little store I have found some decent finds at previously. Passed on the entire "Orphan" line at $699. While that was bad, I was most disappointed with seeing Stagg Jr. at $179.99.

No matter how high I see a bottle priced someone always finds it even higher. There is no end in sight to this ever increasing price points.

By this time next year the current thread "what is your best under $20 bottle" may become what is your best under $50 bottle. :-(

Passed on Willett Rye 8YO at $79, and something called "Cotton Hollow" at around $35.00 (which actually said it was both distilled and bottled in KY).

If that rye is from barrel #80 you might give it a try, it's delicious

I came very close to buying it. Won't be back over that way until after the 1st. Hopefully there will still be some left.

Passed on Willett 8 and 9 yr (didn't check barrel numbers), Blanton's, EHT rye, and what appeared to be a full line of SA bourbons and ryes. Also noticed a surge in available OWA, but no 12.

Brought Elijah Craig Barrel Proof to the register. Noped the fuck out when it rang at $140.

Excellent first post. I looked long at a lonely bottle of ETL but passed as the last time I was staying at the in laws they threw out a freshly purchased dusty weller. Didnt want that happening again.

I am confused by this. I get that you passed on an ETL, but don't get what "threw out" means in this context or understand the connection between that and passing on the ETL. Forgive my density.

That was not clear. I meant buying it to drink at my in laws place would be a fools errand - dad in law is a teetotaler who regularly deals with alcoholics in his professional life and thinks whiskey is particularly evil. A few years back I stashed a bottle away for future Xmas sipping and it got thrown out. Didn't want a similar fate to befall that ETL bottle.

Passed on the Christmas Eve gouging at a retailer (or what I took for gouging; $80 for Stagg Jr, $40 for Baby Saz). He was very proud of these "ultra-limited releases", and I bit disappointed I left empty handed.

Sounds like he had them confused with the BTAC releases of similar name.
