4RSB store pick at 7yrs and I forget the months but at 40 bucks I will easily pass on sub 8 yr 4RSB not to mention it looked noticeably light compared to the standard SB on the shelf near it. I have never seen a sub 8 yr 4RSB and while I don't usually get hung up on age, things like this may change that quickly.

Assuming it was a OBSV 100 proof pick? I've seen some of those younger, although never that young.

Yup standard 100p OBSV. The non store select version, if memory serves has historically been around 9yrs so why was this one even pulled as a selection sample? The store clerk wouldn't even recommend it. Makes me wonder exactly how tight things are getting up there in 4R land.

I left a bottle of Rhetoric on the shelf at $89.99.

Did you ask for a sample? I've had a right around 8 year OBSV 100 proof that was really really good.

For the Atlanta crowd, especially the GBS group that made it to the Lazy Guy distillery tour, I saw a bottle of the bourbon that was still in barrels during our tour on the shelf along with all the other young whiskey options they are making. Thought about it mostly for the novelty but ultimately passed. I think it was about $40 for "less than 2 year old" bourbon and no idea what size barrel he used. I seem to recall he had a variety of sizes he was using because of the difficulty getting any barrels at all.

This store doesn't sample and given how light in color it is I simply won't chance it,again even the clerk at the store didn't recommend it.

I only brought this up because the 4RSB range has been 9 yrs and I agree the 8s are fine as well, many excellent examples but once we drop below that and this was a good bit below that, I'm out especially at 40 bucks.

It is a bit disturbing that barrels this young are even part of the selection group, perhaps 4R should throttle back a bit till the stocks can catch up to the demand. I for one do not want to see/taste the 4RSB profile go south.

Not sure.

Wife is in NYC and stopped in a store that she said had "lots and lots of bourbon". As I told her, why didn't you send me pics?? Hello!!!

Likely overpriced, but the fun is dreaming of a find.

Passed on Forged Oak. Just a little too pricey for the average reviews.

The latest batch of Booker's hit the shelves this week, 2015-01 with the 'limited edition' labels. $59.99. Easy pass.

forged oak @ $69 and smooth ambler contradiction for $50. These were the only notable bottles I encountered while shopping around on work related travel in NC and SC. Both were somewhat tempting but I guess not enough!

Booker's is up to $60 in NJ, saw some Willett 6-yr Rye at $100, and OGD114 was up to $25, so I went home with some beer.

So funny how everything is relative. That is a "clear the shelf" price where I am. Never seen it at less than $29.99 here. I can actually get it slightly cheaper by mail ordering from the other side of the country, even taking shipping into account.

yip. it's still $21-22 here at every store. Even then, Im baffled at the guys who get it for $18 in other locations. Once the price shoots up, Ill make my metro-clearing run again, but until then, 4 in the bunker is enough to console me.

Bookers 2015-1 at 61. It's deceiving. Had the dark brown box that the 25th came in. Made me do a double take. Passed on a bunch of store selections as well.
