LakeJ
Since I'm new to SB I would like to ask you follow bourbon geeks what's your one must have on your shelf ? I know this might not be easy for some of you. Mine one must have would be Weller 12 yr. Love that is a wheater and smooth. The price point is really good for such a good Pappy step brother. Grain Belt
I have to keep a good no frills bonded on hand at all times. I like Old Grand Dad, EWBIB, Dant, Old Heaven Hill, Old Forester Sig, come to mind as bourbons I am more than proud enough to serve myself or good company. As my dad would say, "If you can't get it done with those, you probably shouldn't be doing it."
GaryT
I'd say SB Blend - I think if I got down to less than 300 mL I might start twitching
KyleCBreese
Four Roses Barrel Proofers. I have at least one recipe open at all times, currently it is OESF.

R-Savage
I have my Staple. I have my EWB not the single barrel. It's Tasty, and affordable. I like to have a bit of variety. I usually have 4 bottles available on deck. What the bunker holds. Its a secret .
Alden
I have the basic staples, but if I had to pick just one... damn hard to do, mind you... probably Wild Turkey 101.
Chris m
EC12 is probably my strongest standby at the moment.
squire
Yes, a memory, and an even more faded memory is the predecessor Very Rare Old Heaven Hill which was 10 years old, 100 proof and Bottled in Bond. Bought that one by the case back in the day.
amg
If I could just keep one regularly available bottle on hand it would probably be HH6BiB or 4RSmB.

Harry in WashDC
I don't have just one. It used to be basic Lot B and, when Lot B became scarce, BT. BT became spotty, too, and that's what got me interested enough to REALLY learn about bourbon - I needed to find out what alternatives were out there BEFORE a drought in my next Fave developed. Because the current Lot B is really rare and changed sufficiently from when I drank it like water (well, almost), I don't chase it anymore, but I like to have extra BT on hand to bridge the gaps in its availability. If I don't have BT (and, more often than not even when I have it), I rotate through WT101, OGD BIB, OGD 114, VOB BIB, JBB, Bernheim, Larceny, and (when I can get it - about twice a year in multiple bottles at MSRP) OWA. Of course, mixed in there are the special selections and "crafts" - SAOS in its various iterations is a particular favorite. The OP indicated a "new to bourbon" status. SEE the "abbreviations" thread if you, Dear Reader, are in the same condition.[ASIDE: Mebbe I shounta posted since I don't have "just one". It's all good; some are just better than others (to paraphrase George O).].Edit - Oh, yeah, these are for ME and for people I know or think would like bourbon as an elixir. For cocktails, my go=to is EWB. Edited February 5, 2015 by Harry in WashDC
fishnbowljoe
This, but sadly a distant memory now I hear you B. Even though this isn't my one must have, I saw the pic and just had to post. I opened my last bottle of Very Rare Old HH 8/86 a few weeks ago. :frown:

mbroo5880i
I generally have at least one bottle of EWSB, Larceny, EC12, a FR product and a WT product in the cabinet. If WL12 and/or OWA were more readily available, I would add them to the mix.I would happy with any of these as my "must have." 393foureyedfox
This, but sadly a distant memory now yet you were super cool enough to give me two bottles of it last year when you visited KY, just because I wanted to try it. Guys like you make this place great! Im not really sure I have a must have label, but I must at all times have a barrel proof 6-9 year something open. I can make do with many different labels, but when you want a barrel proofer......you want a barrel proofer. Usually this is a SAOS or a Booker's, or the WFE I have open. Due to WFE's pricing stategies though, there wont be any more of that coming home. Edited February 5, 2015 by 393foureyedfox

Guys like you make this place great!.That is what makes this place great. A mention, a PM on the side, and a friendly face from across the country randomly dropping it off. That and the wit and wisdom of those who have been around longer than I have. B
Richnimrod
I'd have to say Old Forester Signature. A close second would likely Old Weller Antique 107. I suppose there would be a multi-way tie for third....................
jackthedog
I'm thinking it would either be EC12 or EWBIB. Both of those are always pretty solid.

For cocktails, my go=to is EWB.Like you, I tend to have a semi-regular rotation of go-to bourbons. Since the selection in my immediate area is weak, here are some of my regulars in the cabinet: EWBiB, BT, OGDBiB, WT101, RR1792, and Larceny. For whatever reason, EC12 isn't regularly around my area, so whenever I'm in a decent liquor store, I pick up EC12 and/or FRSB and often J.W. Dant and OldFitzBiB if available. But if I had to pick one though, it'd be EWBiB. I plan to pick up some HHBiB when I'm in Indiana in April.
