I like the sound of it if I can actually get it near MSRP. I've seen the prices around here skyrocket on the standard CEHT lineup, so I'm not sure this one's in the cards for me.

Normally I'm not into bourbon that old, but this appears to be the remnants of the BTEC extended stave drying time release. I really enjoyed that bottle. Hopefully the two extra years and higher proof end up benefitting us. So I'm tentavely planning to buy this, as long as I can get it for roughly MSRP.

I'm going to be keeping a close eye on the State's inventory search page for this one and the other upcoming Taylor release ("Seasoned Wood")...

I plan on buying at MSRP. I also plan on not being afforded the opportunity. This will either get gouged or bought up immediately and resold on the secondary.

Yeah, I'm hoping the lack of a blatant age statement will keep the flippers at bay long enough for me to grab a bottle. Probably not though. Meh, won't ruin my day particularly.

I hope for the best but expect the same...... Time will tell. I'd love to try it.

Interest is there for me but I am leery of the age and price (not that I'll see any in the wild). This one will be a bar pour for me.

Same here; with the addition of a bit of disappointment with only 100-proof. The CEHT's I've had that were barrel proof were all great to even better. Many of variations at 100-proof were less dynamic.

This is definitely a "would have to try before I buy". The article mentions that they worked with ISC on this back in 1998, but is this actually aged stated, or age "implied"?

I think its $70 and 100 proof. Given that it's MB#1 and I've already tasted the results of the experiment (albeit 2 years younger), I think its likely I'll enjoy it close to MSRP. Let's be honest here guys, if this was marketed as a Spring dump of ER17 (at the traditional 90 proof even), people--not necessarily SBers--would fight each other for the right to buy a bottle. I look at the EHT branding as a kindness, since that gives us a decent bump in proof and seems to sit around a bit longer here than other limited releases.

I was thinking the same thing, but I looked at the press release from Buffalo Trace and they say it is 17-years-old there. It's just not on the bottle.

I'm definitely in, considering that I like the single barrel and the barrel proof. I don't like the small batch, though.

For MSRP, I'm in for several bottles, even though that is some expensive bourbon at $70.

We need to stop talking about this -- and future CEHT releases -- immediately, before Bobby Flay, Chef Robert Irvine or some other FoodNetwork "celebrity" chef discovers it and off we go on a mini-pappy hysteria. I'll be interested in a BT 17yr old at around $70, but I fear the cat is already out of the bag.

At this point, any bourbon that I can't find on the shelves on a normal day is just a "nice to have" for me anyway. It'd be great to try this, but I'm not going anywhere near out of my way to get it.

I like this mashbill but don't buy it anymore as a Taylor expression unless it's the barrel proof. Though I like SmB and SiB I don't find it worth the asking price. A 17yr expression at the msrp does interest me for sure, but I won't jump through hoops for it which is what will likely be necessary. I'm sure the flippers will have plenty but they can go eff themselves.

I'd be all over that, if only it could be had around these parts...BP is almost unheard of around here, don't see how this would be any different....but somehow someway I always manage. Probably should put the word out on the street now.

Yeah, I'll be putting this bug in my main seller's ear.

I'm really enjoying the latest release of the Barrel Proof right now.

Yeah same here. I'm a sucker for new and shiny.
