Marekv8
510 bottles total, and how one ended up at a rural Connecticut LS amidst the Chivas 12 is beyond me…
kevinbrink
So a couple of months ago I was walking around the City with my older brother and we stopped in a liquor store, I was actually not really looking at what was on the shelves but when he was checking out at the register I noticed a 3 pack of St Andrews Minis that were in little barrels, I laughed as I remembered back when I was still living in my parents basement I had bought a similar set well over a decade ago, they were cheap enough so I decided I would buy them to stick on my bar at home as I'm a sucker for both minis and kitsch. Yesterday I was at my parents house and noticed the three little barrels were in there basement, to my surprise two of the three were still sealed which is really remarkable since they likely survived periods of time where money was definitely something I did not have much of. More interestingly they were 8, 12 and 15 years old and I had only had the 8 year old, must have been saving the "fancy" ones for a special occasion . So tonight I am doing the only reasonable thing.
Kane
Tragic demise of a great bottle that can never be replaced now. I am not drinking all of that at 60%, though. That's what the sample bottle's for.
lcpfratn
Bought this at a local liquor store in Denmark for my brother-in-law and I to enjoy while I'm visiting. He's not been a fan of peated scotch in the past, but his earlier experiences were with more heavily peated brands, so I thought I'd see how he liked this Caol Ila. I may get him to like the darker side of scotch yet, because he and I are both really enjoying this one.
ChainWhip
I haven't tried this one in a while - slowly opening up... probably need to air it out a bit more. The potential is definitely there. 20180711: Douglas Laing's Old & Rare Mortlach 18 1992-2011 @ 58.1% by ChainWhip, on Flickr Edited July 12, 2018 by ChainWhip
kevinbrink
Well I decided that tonight was a night I wouldn't mind cleaning up a broken cork disaster, but here we are cork intact on a bottle sealed up 18 years ago. As a bonus this is a very tasty pour.

Have yet to pop the Peat Monster CS, this one is really tasty though, I think this one is the 2015 batch but Park Ave Liquors had last years at some point and one of my locals tends to get them every year. I picked this one up at a place by my brother's house upstate for $55, same place the Peat Monster came from, and I think I left a couple behind which I will likely grab next time I'm in the area. Marekv8
Kicking things off nice n' easy-- haven't touched this bottle for a couple of years. There's some character showing through the heavy-handed presentation. Not sure how EXTREMELY RARE it is, given that I picked it up at a local grocery store.
