'17 WW Outryder you're sippin' on? Wow, I can't get over the descriptor "Beau Monde." I know what you're talking about, and that sets a completely new standard for tasting notes! Mind if I steal that descriptor? I'd happily give credit where it's due. I can see how you might not necessarily get vanilla. In fact, I find a lot of Lipton iced tea/black tea with muddled spearmint and a little lemon citrus notes on the palate. I do get a little vanilla bean or vanilla bean ice cream, but that's just my palate. “You’re killin’ me Smalls!” I had another pour of the Outryder when I got home from work today. Darned if I didn’t get tea, and a slight hint of vanilla. I thought you’d mentioned those flavors, so I had to take another look at your post to be sure. Crazy. As far as the Beau Monde descriptor goes, it’s a long story, but I’ll try and cut to the chase. A long time ago, we used to make our own veggie/dill dip. Dill Weed and Beau Monde are two of the ingredients. Dill Weed is a fairly tasty spice. The Beau Monde off sets it a bit and brings more balance to the dip. I also think of Beau Monde as slightly laid back version of All Spice. Soooooo........ Every once in a while something in a bourbon (or?) will trigger a taste or olfactory memory. This has happened a couple of times now when it comes to Beau Monde. BTW Nancy, please feel free to use the Beau Monde descriptor as you see fit. No need to give credit. It is what it is. Biba! WhiskeyBlender
On 11/4/2019 at 5:49 PM, HoustonNit said: Wait this Wyoming whiskey Outdryer is near rye at 48% and 6 years or 8 years old and 100 proof. Hmm I’m definitely interested, saw one of these recently I also think on the discount rack, will need to check it out. Sorry @HoustonNit, I just saw your post. Actually, because the "rye-ish" whiskey with only 48% rye in the mash bill couldn't legally be called a rye whiskey, we decided to blend it with the rye recipe bourbon. and just make it all into one product. Thus, the blend is roughly 1/3 "rye-ish" whiskey and 2/3's of the rye bourbon. Although the 8 year old is bottled, I don't think it's hit the shelves yet. It has a different label from the old one. Whatever is on the discount rack is most likely the 6 y.o. '17 version. Cheers, Nancy Edited November 7, 2019 by WhiskeyBlender
Radioyada
First time seeing this bottle at my local store, and they want me to let them know how it is. It is an easy drinker, but not one I would reach for unless it were one of my last bottles.

A good balance of classic bourbon notes, wood, and a bit of chocolate. I'm told it takes water/ice really well.

Clueby
Cracked open LB3 tonight for a taste. The Booker's DNA is there but I think there is quite a bit of BH in there as it has a lot of rye spiciness vs. Booker's sweetness. Just had a tiny taste so far.

0895
Guess I’ll go again... Thanks to a fellow SB’er for the Hookup. Been wanting one of these for awhile. Not quite as good as the Old Ezra 7/101, but still darn tasty. Edited November 18, 2019 by 0895 Just noticed that glass is leaning/flawed ... it’s hard to get good help these days.

Bob_Loblaw
So far lots of sweet cocktail cherry on the nose. Have not gotten into the sip yet just taking a sniff as I go back and forth getting the rest of the days chores completed before I can sit and enjoy.

In my opinion VB was the slightest bit harsher but definitely very tasty like you say.
0895
Opened a 2016 dated Gold today with some friends for brunch because one of the attendees “loves Blanton’s” and had never tried it. Its a pretty good bottle.

But, I do I understand having a desire to taste it based upon the experiences reported by others that have tried it.
