Guss West
That Redbreast 27 looks like a stunner! Count me in as a another brother that has Redbreast 12 CS on his "buy on sight" list. Every.Single.Time. Wanted to pop in with my freshly opened Gift Box Ardbeg 10 with those lovely wee enameled coffee cups. First I drinks the coffee, then I drinks the whiskey. And, I'll do it again... Slainte!
beasled
This is rather tasty. A smoky, peaty (but not phenolic), sweet mash of tropical fruit and barley. I assume it is young but this would be considered a decent 10 year old at other distilleries. Wonderful stuff.
smokinjoe
Forced into the garage tonight due to thunderstorms rolling through, and forced to listen to Atlanta United soccer on the radio instead of Braves, as baseball was rained out due to said storms. Not all a loss, as I picked up an Amrut Fusion for a good price today and it is one of my favorite whiskies. I know squadoosh about soccer, but I can belt out GOOOOOAAAALLLLL as good as anybody (did it once, I admit...) and I think the Atlanta team had more of these than....than...than....uh...the other guys...tonight...And, this Amrut is friggin’ liquid nectar of the whiskey gods.

dad-proof
Started off my new mission to finish off my low fill bottles by killing off an older Benromach 10.
B.B. Babington
tonight whisky night. already sample several and reminded yet again about day to day difference in taste. Had glinlevit 12 which I've liked okay and tonight it's still okay, but just okay. Does have great aftertaste. Went to a Buchanan 15 which in past I thought just okay and put in the buy never again list but tonight it is great. Not in your face, but picking up subtle compelities not noticed before. Aftertaste not strong but lingering and interesting. It's now in the catch another bottle on sale list. And I'm into a second glass of it. Headed toward a Balvanie 21 and then Nadurra. Might stick on the Nadurra or maybe sample others for fun

fishnbowljoe
Pardon me for being anal, but.... Is it still considered foreign whiskey if a foreigner bought it, and is consuming it in a foreign country? Sorry folks. I just had to. Y’all don’t know how long I’ve been thinking about posting this. Ya gotta have some fun. Cheers beasled! Biba! Joe

Guss West
Feels like a Scotch pour Friday. Starting with some Sherry booms; the Balvenie 15 and Glendronach 18+. Beauties. Moving into the Springbank 10 and Ardbeg eventually. Likely a nip of Luxardo Fernet to finish off the night. (What he didn't tell me is that a Fernet nightcap would become a regular occurrence!)

Gillman
I bought a bottle of standard Crown Royal recently. Must say I was disappointed. The body was good, lightly sweet, with a finish not dissimilar to straight whiskey - not spirity in other words. But I found it hard to tease out much taste. A bit of tang on the tail, from rye or the wood not sure, but that was it. I actually don't mind this since I can use it in my blending experiments, but I don't recall it being so mild. I stay away from most crown. The old red box Waterloo XR is very good, the old Cask 16 is very good, the new 16 yr rye should be good but is lacking to my taste. I still have few bottles of Waterloo and Cask 16 but pour them sparingly.
B.B. Babington
Saw something I didn't know so leaped. Kavalan Distiller's Select #1 2018 from Taiwan. Wow. Apparently master Chang blended this for American cocktails but it's way too good for that fate. Tastes like a standard scotch/irish/japanese but with more umph. After couple pours to really get feel of it, for comparison I followed it with Knappogue 12, Glinlevet 12, and Glendronach 12 and then repeat Kavalan. Kavalan very bold compared to others, and had complexity suggesting some well aged material was added to the blend. Kavalan had a very nice looooong aftertaste which even intruded on the Knappogue. Knappague seemed like water after Kavalan. And though Glendronach is super great, Kavalan still much better. I'm interested in trying other expressions but they can be pricey. Japanese producers have something to worry about.

I actually had Laga 16 before the Laphroaig, it was a good warm up!
