I concur with this ranking. However, my son says batch 17 is better than 12 and compares to GTS. Needless to say, I'm quite anxious to try batch 17.
jvd99
Stopped in the brand new Orland Park, IL Binny’s. Wow - it’s the biggest LS I’ve ever seen. They took over a Babies R Us next to Target. The beer selection was literally endless. Bourbon was typical large LS fare, nothing special, just a lot of it. The rare and collectibles was also kinda lame - Binnys has all the good stuff at its flagships in Chicago. I didn’t buy anything there because I felt bad for my local LS from whom I buy about 98% of my stuff. Drove over there and bought some stuff instead.
GeeTen
So, I heard about an 11yr SiB BP Wegman's pick of Elijah Craig hitting my old stomping grounds in Chestnut Hill, MA on Tuesday. Ran down and grabbed mine ($74.99 OTD) and said "Please sir, may I have another" in my most pleading manner. Alas, it was not to be. So I took it to Whiskey Wednesday at Pappy's Place to see if the gals and guys liked it as much as I did (got a taste at the store before I bought it). Got there around 4:45 pm and opened her up. Again, I've seldom seen folks take a second Glencairn of a new bottle but these animals took three (3) in a row before I left at 7:30ish! Then, at 8:37 pm, one clown sent me this pic, saying "We cannot decide if it's worth drinking! What do you think???" I panicked and got up early Thursday morning to find more. I knew Chestnut Hill was sold out so I headed over to do a "great circle" through the other four (4) Wegman's in the state. Found a bunch (thank goodness) that should hold me over until @Clueby and wife get here for a June wedding in Connecticut and a visit to Boston. I'd rather be lucky than good - and I did leave some on the shelves at each stop that I bought from. No "shelf-clearing" bad karma for this boy, you betcha'! At least your group likes and sends pics of good stuff. A guy in our local group posted a couple of pics today. FWIW, he likes to peruse the clearance shelves and carts at local stores. His comment was, “Still a few left.” In case this looks familiar to anyone, it’s from the same company in Chicago that makes the world renowned Malört. Biba! We had a TW barrel proof pick just across the river a month or so ago that I picked up for $43.99. I don't remember how old it is. Joe I remember the story on those - other than the brand name, nothing in common with the infamous wormwood liqueur. People from that company bought some barrels of Bourbon from MGP in Indiana, then aged them at their own site in Illinois for four years. I've read reviews that say it's at least OK (figure 4 year old MGP). Price I've seen was in the $20s, and passed. At $9.99, I'm a buyer, at least once. When Jeppson’s first came out with their bourbon, @Vosgar bought a bottle and gave samples to me and @Galvin0791. It actually wasn’t half bad. A bit “youngish” perhaps, but it wasn’t as hot or tannic as most younger bourbons I’ve tried. It was also probably the surprise of a bottle with the Jeppson’s name on it that didn’t taste putrid. FWIW, I purchased a bottle of Rush Creek 3 yr wheated a while back, and I still have most of it left. Hot and woody. Diluting it with another bourbon didn’t help. 🫤 Biba! Anwalt
Well, you people have been extolling the virtues of WT101 all over the place (along with MM101, which I have yet to see here). Found a bottle, which is not normally something I see in PR. $30 before the 11% sales tax, which was $10 off the normal price. Considerably cheaper in the States, I imagine. But not worth toting in a suitcase. I'd rather save those spots for hooch that is not available here. Headed to Nashville in a few weeks and Pittsburgh (daughter has a job there, parents are in Youngstown) in early June. I look forward to muling some bottles back to the Isla del Encanto. I'll report back on WT101. Thanks for the learning, I enjoy following you all's (youze) posts.

Yeah I picked up a bottle of WT101 yesterday at the grocery store because these guys have been talking about it so much and for $20 a bottle not bad. I don’t drink a lot and every day so I prob wouldn’t buy again (would rather save my more limited drinking times for a little better bourbons) but I see why you guys use it for a daily drinker. Pretty solid for the price

I really really hope not, but it just seems like the next logical step for them. My understanding that the these ECBP picks will be something where the buyer can choose to be bottled at BP or proofed down to 94. Given how plentiful the regular ECSmB picks were I am hopeful that these wont be all that rare down the road. . . Then again everyone is a proof hound now

What's the difference between this 94 proof option you fellas are referring to, versus any regular old store pick barrel of EC? Seems like what they are actually saying is that HH is just offering a BP version now when a store does a private barrel pick. No? Up until this year, all EC store picks were cut to 94 proof, the merchant didn’t have a say in the matter. But now these stores are given the option. Take their pick cut to 94 proof as it’s always been, or take it at barrel proof, uncut. This is a pretty significant change to the EC PS program, and to me a very large step in the right direction for HH. Does this help answer your question?

Same vein as when you do a Weller barrel you can opt for Full Proof, Antique or Special Reserve or the new (last year) OF picks where you can get bottled at BP or 100pf. So for the next few years I’d imagine we see a lot of ECBP SiB picks as everyone wants the shiny new toy and then it will start to balance out again.
