It was EC night in your honor last night. Mostly all things HH with a couple notable outliers. I have to say I was a bit underwhelmed by the HH17.

Had my first pours of OF1897 last night.  After reading many comments here I was surprised how much I enjoyed it. Can't say it's twice as good as OF100 as the price is but it's a nice pour.

I like OF100 although I think it has a bit of a rough edge to it. It is my 'primary keep around for mixers' bourbon and does a fine job at it.

I haven't had the 1897 yet but get good feedback from the SIL and his friends. To tell you the truth, I don't know if I have had a bad BIB yet, so I think maybe it may be my next pickup...

The first couple of pours were, hmmmm. Ever since, I have really been digging this bottle. I'm down to about a 3rd left and do plan on replacing.

 

Anyway, that's what I'm drinking now...

Last night was some Boone County SmB.  This was my second pour from the bottle and I really like the flavor.  Really starts to open up after the first sip.  Followed that with some Rebel Yell 100.  I've always enjoyed the dry finish of this bottle.

Was feeling like an 'entitled punk biatch' (EPB) tonight, so started with:

EHT SB (mighty good)

Remus V (no drop off but different)

RR 13 (damn that's good)

 

But like all EPB's, the piper must be paid. There are no replacements on the Gulf Coast except for the EHT.

Down to the last 3rd or quarter on each...

For me, it’s been a helluva spring so far. Crazy freaking weather. A crap ton of things going on, and most not good. Even when something does seem to go right, it’s been mostly a one step forward, two steps back kinda deal. A number of nights I’ve purposefully refrained from drinking. A few nights I’ve had a pour or two out of frustration. A few nights I’ve had pours out of sheer relief. (Made it through the day without something else going haywire. )Tonight was totally different in a good way. My granddaughter will be graduating from middle school next week. Tonight was her schools honors and awards program. My granddaughter was presented with several awards. She received the outstanding award for orchestra, the outstanding award for social studies, an 8th grade class scholastic award, and last but certainly not least, a Presidential award for educational achievement. In case y’all couldn’t tell, I’m so very proud of her. Being a (former) musician myself, her receiving the outstanding orchestral award made me misty eyed. So tonight, I had a couple a three or four celebratory pours of a ps OWA in honor of my wonderful granddaughter Cali.

Congrats to you, and more importantly the granddaughter on the accomplishments and the ensuing rewards.  Sometimes I think the accomplishments of the grandkids are even more enjoyable than those of your kids since you didn't have to put up with all the drama.  You just get to sit back and enjoy.  I'll have a celebratory pour in her honor tonight, as we all should do.

Having some OF100 & have to recant what I said in an earlier post about rough edge. This is quite a bit more balanced than I first thought and boy, does it bring the chocolate!!!

I'm on the train coming home from a gala to support a very worthy organization,  Philadelphia Youth Basketball,  which is building a B-ball and wellness center for kids in the Nicetown section of our city.   I was sipping a nice local product, Redemption Rye,  and hoping I've got the winning bid on some distillery-exclusive bottles from Dad's Hat!

That and EH Taylor are at the top of my list, both newly acquired tastes, the JMCB thanks to you guys.  Really good.

 

OWA and HM10BiB/SiB are in honorable second place - or is that 3rd & 4th?

 

And had a neat moment tonight.  Wifey, who is a red wine lady and normally will not touch bourbon decided that ER10 (first try an hour or so ago) is quite to her liking.  I was shocked.  I've never seen her go for liquor except for pisco, and then only in a sour.
