Well, once again we had to go out today. 🤫 Yes I did, but it’s not what you think. I didn’t buy another bottle, but I did buy a new bourbon t-shirt. 😁

The Amador is fantastic for the price.

What is it like?

I do like the Smokewagon.  I noticed the price increasing.  I found mine for $60, seeing them for $70 - $80 in most places now.  It seems to be one the few NDP's that's liked here at SB.

To me the Amador tastes like a cross between New Riff and EH Taylor, for $39 and being easily accessible I would say it's a win.

Wow, $70-80 for Smoke Wagon? I like it but that's a bit pricey for what it is. I think I paid just a hair over $40 for mine. It's not common, but I do see it on the shelf enough that I wouldn't pay over retail for it

I have been Failing on details here lately.  The SW I was discussing was the uncut & unfiltered higher proof version, hence the price differential.  Looks like I need to slow down and look at posts more closely.

Thanks for the comments on Amador, I shall add it to my "try it" list.

Got a call a couple days ago from my local shop manager. Finally got there today to pick this up. Sometimes loyalty and good relationships still pay off.

Let us know what you think of KC 9 when you get to it. I happen to think it's a very solid and flavorful pour for an affordable price.

Well, last night was my sample. And it was good. Not quite as smooth up front as the MMPS, from mid palate to finish, it’s very close. Going to try it smoked next time.

Very happy with this dusty find on vacation in Colorado.  Glad it survived being in a checked bag!  I had the original red Waterloo batch back in ~2012 but never was willing to pull the trigger on this until they were long gone.

Finally finished my JM Cigar Blend purchases with a haul of one (1) Batch 89 and two (2!) Batch 99s.  @Whiskey Bender - names of the batches, please.  And any other info that you may have in your notes.  Thanks, Nancy.   😋

Had a little luck.  $250 each.  One to a colleague at cost, the other two for me.  I very much look forward to trying them.

I have loved MM 46 since it first came out. To me, it is a step up from most wheaters in the flavor dept. Really a nice whiskey. And then, they came out with a cask strength version...mind=blown. So, when a friend came across 3 bottles, yes please!! Here's one of them.

Prost!!  Phil

Been away a while.  Got a call just before labor day that they found my Brother in law unresponsive at home (he is a diabetic and has end stage renal disease).  We had to make a mad drive from Michigan back to North Louisiana.  To make this to the point, he is in a  persistent vegetative state and has been moved to hospice.  We will go  back in October to make a final decision.  Had no opportunity for bourbon while I was away but had a bit of Kentucky Owl after I got back.   He left no will or directions so my wife is having to sort everything out.  It is  a bit more complicated as Louisiana law is based on French law rather than English law.  Very stressful situation.

I saw the Smoke Wagon. UCUF for $80 today,  which I think about the right price these days.   They raised the price by ten bucks a little while back.   The Small Batch should be about $50.

I saw a few interesting bottles,  and I probably would have brought back three or four (including the UCUF),  except I had a shot at a whale.   May the gods of Karma forgive me,  I spent $210 on a 13 year RR cask strength.

How could I not?   My favorite bourbon,  cask strength, batched under the Russellian eye,  and aged to the apogee.   I ain't saving it for old age or ceremony,  I'm gonna drink it.

Those are calls we all hope to never receive. Prayers for you and the rest of the family having to deal with this tough time.
