mbroo5880i
We killed the Four Roses UN bottle. Just like the real UN, we didn't notice much contributed by other countries. Just as well, KSBW is the best whiskey in the world.

fishnbowljoe
Three more for the bin. The Solomon Scott Rye was a gift a while back from a fellow member here. It was poured from sparingly. I actually shared most of it. I’d bring a sample when I knew that a rye lover or two was gonna be at one of our bourbon/cigar group get togethers. All that tried it really liked it, including me.
LCWoody
Finished off an ER while I was on vacation. Luckily I brought a WTKS that up next.
Swamp55
Time again for the march to the bin. Generally, a solid group here (pic below). The Bardstown Fusion Series #9 is one that I have really grown fond of. I am glad that I have a couple more of this release in the bunker. Too bad that the Fusion Series is discontinued; I had several very enjoyable bottles in that line. The WTKS was, as usual, a fine example of Turkey that I always enjoy. For a single barrel product, the consistency of this product in my experience is admirable. I realize that the QPR is questionable versus standard WT101, but I am willing to choose this one every time. The Blanton’s is a bottle that I have had open for a while. My daughter recently found me a new bottle at SRP in Oregon, so I was willing to finish this one off. This is a thoroughly enjoyable bourbon that I will keep in my cabinet as long as I can get it for SRP. It is not worth the marked-up prices that are common these days (unless maybe as a gift for someone who really wants one). The last two bottles provided an opportunity for a kind of SBS for Barrell Craft Spirits “entry” products. I bought a couple of bottles of the Stellum when it was first released, based on my great experiences with other releases from BCS. I was excited to try a $50 release from those outstanding blenders. However, I was somewhat disappointed in that one. Not bad, mind you, but I never considered buying any more of this. On the other hand, the new release, Barrell Foundation, is considerably better IMHO at around the same price. I am on my second bottle now and really like it a lot. I will be buying more.
Kepler
My last couple of bottle kills. The Pure Kentucky XO is a 10.5 yr age stated dusty bottled in 2005 that I found back in 2017 I believe it was. Incredibly syrupy mouthfeel and I wish I had another bottle in storage from this era, but I don't. I do not expect the newer NAS versions to be anything like this one so I won't be replacing it. The Sagamore Sherry finish rye is outstanding. Extremely crushable bottle even at a healthy proof of 106. This bottle emptied fast for me and I've already procured a couple of backups at a lower price than I paid for this bottle.

I spied her sitting atop a bookshelf behind the liquor store register. She had a layer of dust, hence qualified as a dusty. We spent some enjoyable evenings together. Turkey really hits its stride in the 12-17 year old range. Oak definitely dominated with a nice creamy mouth feel. 86 proof was fine and there was plenty going on flavor wise that I did not want more. As Richnimrod put it, it was some of the most fun I’ve had with my clothes on. WTMK One is similar but not as refined with its toasted finish. I’d still rank Revival over this one, which is my favorite WTMK release. The Turkey spice really conjoins with that sherry finish. Thanks for the excellent detailed feedback. I tasted this once (my brother had a bottle back when it first came out) but it's been years so I almost forgot what it tasted like. I do have one of these that I will open one of these days. Looking forward to it!

Man, while somewhat inconsistent, most likely due to inconsistent supply of barrels from their supplier(s), many of these older Pure Kentuckys were indeed excellent, if not downright spectacular! I still on occasion, will pick up a current iteration, just for the memories. And while the whiskey within is a far cry from that older bottle you have, it’s just good enough to not ruin the reminiscing altogether.
Double C's
The family size bottle of AA was emptied into a standard size freezer friendly bottle. I also enjoy my first bottle of Peerless. I wish more brands would bottle up some 200ml or even more 375ml offerings would be nice to see when either trying something new, or for those somewhat harder to get items just to get more bottles on the market so more people have a chance to get one.

What you are really saying is that maybe I should reconsider replacing said bottle? Yet another SB enabler!

And, it doesn’t suck.

Thomm
Unceremoniously sent yet another empty FR SiB bottle to whatever landfill the contents (minus the aluminum, I suspect) of my "recycling bin" end up in. No photo. I'm still dealing with the loss.

They started offering it to raise money for a bartender & service workers fundraiser program during the pandemic. Mine come as part of the Whiskey Drop program from them each year. I do look forward it. It is an excellent WFS expression. I would back it up if given the chance. Edited June 30, 2024 by markandrex
