This one showed up in Texas recently so I grabbed one; heard good things from a trusted source ( @mbroo5880i)

I was able to try this one and the bonded  wheater at a public tasting locally and I preferred this one.  Going to crack it open shortly.

My wife is out of the country on business and I reverted to a bit of wandering the path well trodden. The JD rye is 135 pf and drinks like 100pf.

I bought one this week also, at  Total Wine in SWFL. Paid $20, it's pretty good for that price point.

When things are priced very good, you sometimes cave and pick up some bottles. The Ezra 99 port finish was something I was interested in trying as well.

20240515_063311.thumb.jpg.52e971e288cc449112f111f4ae8b2e4e.jpgShould have a Jack 12 in about 45 minutes. I'm currently about number 75 waiting in line at the distillery.

That's too bad, for reference next time I'm the devilishly handsome gentleman dressed to kill. I'm certain you're the same 😁

Seriously, it didn't even cross my mind to check if any of the "locals" would be there. We could have met up and had a cup of "coffee"

Doors opened at 08:00, I got there too early, around 06:30 which was unnecessary in hindsight. But I wasn't as early as some I spoke to near the front of the line, some spent the night!

That's my now 24 yo son. I couldn't talk him into going into work late today to help his old man score another bottle. 🙂

He and his older sister do enter the state lotteries for me and usually win.

Rebel 6 yr 100 proof KSBW for less than $20. It’s disgusting. Don’t even try it.

Ok, just between us 3. It’s actually very good. I hope it doesn’t attract attention though. I can see it being a staple for me if it’s available.

That's kind of what I sensed from your post.  Thanks for inside info (just between us) 😉

I saw it on the shelf the other day and elected to grab the Ezra port cask finished instead. I am initially not a fan of it and your post makes me wish I would have chosen differently that day.

TW Grand Reserve is officially worth it after today.  2 hours in line and would have had backup options of SFTB, M10, ETL.

I was GR for 2 years and got exactly zero bottles thru 5+ lotteries. I gave up after that. Took the bulk of my business elsewhere.

Very nice snag - congrats on the pickup.  Let us know how it tastes whenever you get around to opening it.

But to me, TW Grand Reserve will only become "worth it" when you don't have to stand in line for 2 hours competing with other taters.  They need to use "technology" more than they currently do (email or phone calls, Lol) and hold bottles for people so they can go pick up their bottles at their own convenience.  I hate these tater events that promote lines.   It's great for the store, but it sucks for the buying public.

I actually stopped at Binny’s for something else, then changed my mind. What can I say? 🤷🏻 Not HH 18, but HH nonetheless. I’ve been sharing my HH BIB Blend lately at our bourbon/beer/cigar get togethers. Even though I have a half a handle left, I figured I’d get prepared. “Know what I mean Vern?” 😉
