Gor an ER10 at the new "retailish" price of $50.99+tax at TW&M. Mrs. Clueby really likes it or it might have been a pass.

ER10 is one of two bourbons The Wifey will drink, the other being 4R Super Premium.

"Chicks Dig It".

I did not see "Weller Whore" on the label. ???

Look on the back. You’ll see Joe C. It’s in honor of Joseph Congiusti. He was the whiskey buyer at Sam’s in Chicago. They were bought out by Binny’s, and he worked for them a number of years. True, funny (repeat) story here. I was at BT one time. A gal brought a cart out of the back with a bunch of bottles of ER on it. She started putting them out on the shelf. We made eye contact and I said “Oh. You’re finally putting my bottles out.” She looked at me with a puzzled look on her face. I then said, “Take a look. My name is on the back of the bottle.”  She said. “Uh-uh.” I grabbed a bottle and pointed out the Joe C on the back. I then took out my wallet and showed her my drivers license. She looked up at me and I couldn’t keep a straight face anymore. I started chuckling. She smiled and I told her the story. She admitted that I kinda had her going there for a minute. We had a good laugh together. I grabbed a bottle, thanked her, then headed for the check out. 😀

Celebrating an ugly win today.

We pulled a rare double this afternoon

We won the tailgate and the game.

KC15 in the glass.

I'd post a pic,  but the site is limiting the size of the files to 208.49 kB, which is smaller than a picture file can be resized. 😡😡😡

Good story (one among many, no doubt), and good clean fun. Cheers!

I watched the end of the game.  7 field goals is impressive.  So is Jayden Daniels.  They just need to get McLaurin involved more.  He is an Indy guy.  Plus it was a division win.  Anyone but the Cowboys.

It'll take a while.

Pass protection sucks.

Secondary sucks.

D line is shaky.

WR's can't get separation.

Play calling is atrocious.

Other than that, we're fine...

Except their Quarterback might actually be able to throw the damn ball with accuracy in his career. Richardson will never lead us where we want to go for the Colts.

During the games, Smirnoff Vodka ran a commercial - something about a drink recipe for every team.

I told my wife, Colts fans don't need that.  They can just drink straight from the bottle, in a brown paper bag.  😵‍💫

Somebody (refresh my memory) here was speaking highly of this.  It keeps showing up when I go shopping, so I thought I might give it a whirl.  Who knows?  If I drink enough of it, perhaps it will give me a whirl also.

May have been me, I really enjoy this one. I am not deep on finished bourbons or DO or many of the manipulations currently en vogue at various distilleries. I found this one different and very enjoyable. I like C&Ks apple brandy having enjoyed it on a tour a few years back and I don't need to be asked twice when it comes to well aged Barton and HH.

Both bottles have been on my buy list and I finally saw them on the shelf at a store near work.  Just a few days ago I posted that I passed on the KC Bourbon x Rye at $44.99.  I then saw it at another store for $42.99 and decided to take a chance.

The KC Bourbon x Rye is good, but nothing special compared to the individual components in the blend.  At roughly $32 I'll take either KC9 or KC7 over the new Bourbon x Rye at $42-$45.  And if I crave a blend of the two I can do it myself.  The only difference is proof (100 vs 113).  Yes, I'm a huge KC fan.  Unfortunately, this release is a "miss" for me.  I really don't know what the folks at Jim Beam were thinking.  One and done, will not rebuy.

As for the Green River Full Proof, I am liking it quite a bit.  From the nose to the finish it's very enjoyable.  And for a 5-7 year bourbon, 125 proof, NCF, at a MSRP of $49.99, I think it is pretty good value for money.

I remember talking and buying from Joe at Sam’s and then Binny’s.  He was a little old guy but knew his bourbon and rye very well.

The gold old days!!

I bought a bottle of Green River Full Proof at Costco tonight.  It was $44.99 which is $5 to $10 less than I see it at liquor stores.  This bottle is 118.1 proof.  I popped it open.  Not in the store but once I got home.  Honestly, my expectations were low.  I expected it to be one-dimensional.  While not complex, it has hints of cherry, vanilla and stranglely green apples. The proof adds to the experience.  While I have never tried the standard 90 proof for $32.99, I am not certain this profile would be as enjoyable below 100 proof.  It drinks lighter than it is and much like a rye.

For once not the same old story. Bourbon/beer/cigar gathering tonight. One really good guy that shows up occasionally gifted me this OWA. He said he listens. He remembered me talking about trying to find an OWA so I could make one last batch of my Weller Blend. Rest assured I’ll be making my Blend very soon. Likewise, I’ll be bringing some to share at a future get together.

Today was the state quarterly lottery drop. My wife and oldest son both won spots in line. I was relegated to the walk up line.

The Weller 12s are 1 liter which was a surprise, and I got my own birthday bourbon. The 4 Roses  was dumped on my 60th.

The Blanton's gold got us 2 more letters closer to the complete set. We only need T and N:.

Marching band completion will keep us out until after 9. But, I'm looking forward to opening a couple of these tonight.20240921_121133.thumb.jpg.410d9c51c5f259d7b6b37e28ff7bafcb.jpg

My local Sam's Club had a store pick 120-proof 10-yr-old Knob Creek SiB for 45 bux so I grabbed one.  I've had some really remarkable KC barrel picks but this isn't one of them.  I will probably quit buying their picks since I bought a Remus pick of theirs that was also nothing special.  Dunno if that chimes with anyone else's experience.

All the recent talk about OGD114 made me realize I did not have one on hand so I rectified that today.

I would have pulled the trigger at that price too.

Even KC that isn't that special should still be pretty good. Hopefully it'll be better when you revisit down the road.

Don't know if this is helpful info, but I have yet to see a KC SiB pick anywhere local for less than $59.99.  For that reason, coupled with the fact that KC 12 is readily available for a few bux more whenever I venture through Indiana, I have never felt the need to buy one.  If I had stumbled upon one for $45, I might have been a buyer. That's almost a @mbroo5880i price!

I wish that our warehouse clubs carried liquor.

The Costcos near DC sell it, but the horrific  traffic isn't worth the hour drive. If we're in the neighborhood,  we might stop in, but that's rare.

Holy poop!  Just realized that I'm down to the dregs of my LAST Collinsville OGD114 and the Hibiki decanter of GW4G is getting dangerously low from Summer consumption.  Road trip to The Lou in the near future???  😳
