HighTower
Nice buys, Leigh.Blanton's Gold is one of my favorites.I also dropped in at the Wine Emporium a bit up the road. These guys had a bottle of Old Portrero ($150) and Van Winkle Special Reserve 12yr ($260) on the shelf... Left these for my next trip into town....I would recommend (or not recommend, even) trying the Old Portrero before you drop $150 on it. I was wanting to buy one but then I tried it....Please do not pay $260 for Van Winkle Special Reserve. I could get you 2 bottles for less than that....Scott
Stones
Burwood Cellars are going to email me when their shipment of Van Winkle products arrives by September. Will pass the info on when I get it.Yes please! :yum::yum::yum:
Stones
:icon_pidu:F.Y.I. All Brisbane members, i just picked up a bottle of WT American Spirit from the Champion Liqour store at Newmarket for $130. I know it may not be the cheapest but i've had trouble finding it in the past few months. They had about 3 more on the top shelf too, so get in there if you haven't had one yet.Tym. Stones
Dave, Just the other day the hotel my liquor barn is joined to printed out a list of spirits available to them. EC 18 was on the list, and it had our order codes for them. I called 1st Choice and asked them to look up the code....$150, but they didn't have any stock on hand, I would say it is one of those products that they can order if they feel they would sell it.If you want some, I have a couple of bottles that should be here next week, and should be cheaper than that.Hey Scott, hope you're over the flu now. How did the FR tasting go?Was wondering if you had taken delivery of those EC18yo ordered and if you'd tasted any. I had bought a bottle a year or so back but it was undrinkable due to a very metallic flavour and was wondering if your new delivery was a 'good' batch or not. pete_d
He all, it's been a while for meI've just gotten back into the bourbon scene after a hiatus and noticed that the prices of bottles are no cheaper than they were when the Aussie dollar was equal to 78c US. Now the AUS$ is going down again, i wouldn't be surprised to see the cost of these drinks rise again. How exactly do these importers get away with this? I had bought a bottle a year or so back but it was undrinkable due to a very metallic flavour and was wondering if your new delivery was a 'good' batch or not.Hey Tym,The FR tasting was good, though there was only 4 of us due to so many people getting the damn flu. I'm still trying to shake it.We warmed our way into it with some Pappy 23, WT American Spirit, Thomas Handy Rye and Saz Jr before hitting the 8 FR offerings.None of them seemed to kill the Flu. The Cuban cigars we smoked with the FR 120th didn't make things any better either :slappin:. The EC18 is in the hands of FedEx as the useless pricks had it in customs for 5 days and they didn't get it delivered before I went to Sydney. It should arrive tomorrow. I have one bottle left and although I haven't tried this batch, it was hand selected by Brett Pontoni from Binnys so it should be good juice, and is generally around 20 years old. Let me know if you're keen.

With that being said, I still don't think they would pass on any savings!Scott

I was pretty bummed out i wasn't able to make it, esp now i know those were on offer for the tasting too. Shame non of them killed the flu, i guess you'll just have to keep trying. :grin:As for the EC18 i'd love to try a good version and if your guy has hand picked them then it sounds like a good bet to me. I will PM you for a possible meet up and exchange. :toast:CheersTym.

JBeamGold
How difficult or expensive is it to ship bourbon down under from the US?I wanted to ship a bottle to a friend there but are there added expenses from duties or taxes? Hi there, What I have found is getting 1 bottle from the states to Aust is approx 50usd and 2 is approx 65usd via priority mail... When posting 1 bottle it normally misses customs duty but 2 normally they normall add customs duty On the customs form I have found the description "Collectable Glass" to be the best... Do not put on there Jim Beam Bourbon Whiskey as 1 lady did to me and they go me on 1 bottle.. Posting older bottles with a cork I recommend wrapping in glad wrap first... Hope this helps Andrew... callmeox
I like the baby bourbon quite a bit. The price is a stretch but it is one of the few micros that I would buy at that price point.
