Well being out of open WT 8year and not wanting to open another 750 just to see it 'evaporate' all too quickly I went huntin' today and glad I did! I had seen a few of these before and wish now I would have bought them all. This one has a blank tax stamp and an 82 on the bottom - if that in fact puts it at 1982 it may be the oldest 8 year turkey I've found and as you can see from the shape definitely the fattest. The shape is very cool also, but that has been discussed quite a bit on other threads...

I may have to try and retrace my steps to find the others (2 maybe) that I have found as I'd much rather have one of these open and last a while as blowing through the smaller bottle. It'd be an everyday pour if I could buy this on the shelf any time I needed it!

Also passed up a couple of Woodford Reserve batch #11 bottles tonite, I think I might have to go back and get at least one of those can't imagine finding any earlier than that!

I went back to the store where I'd found a few old bottles and picked up, in addition to a Dickel No 12 and an Old Hickory, the last bottle they had of brown-label WT101 straight rye. It had an intact cork but the plastic part of the bottletop was damaged (sheared staight off, actually), so they let me have it for half-price. I removed the damaged cork, decanted the rye and refilled the bottle with a fresh new stopper.

This rye was distilled in Maryland and bottled in the mid to late seventies. It reminds me a lot of Saz Junior, and I was drinking both side by side last night.

Christian,

See my post about the Duty Free store. You aren't THAT far from the border...

I think a side-by-side would be interesting between a new and old bottle of eight year turkey.

FR SB, ETL, and Booker's... the ETL is to replace a bottle that was consumed at a neighborhood Christmas party we hosted last weekend. Old ELmer made a few converts to bourbondom.

We might have to arrange that sometime. Yeah saw your post and had been meaning to say something about it, if that 8 year export is as good as the older 8 year that is a bargain at $17 a liter...

Well I think I need to stop spending so much on bourbon... Again not exactly what I went after as I was out visiting a friend up north I checked a couple of stores and was really hoping to find some Pappy (or Rip) 15 instead I found a couple of 20s and at $70 I couldn't leave them on the shelf. Then I ventured into another store and found the dusty (2) Old Fitz Prime and the Old Forester quart bottle. Now that Forester says it is 4 years old on the back, but it is the darkest 4 year old I've ever seen! No kidding I put it next to a bottle of 22 year old Rye as well as the 20 year Pappys and it is every bit as dark if not darker. I got all three for a mere $37 so was very surprised to see $79.99 bottle of Old Weller 107 in the red bag    needless to say that bottle which I would have really liked to have stayed there.

Well, not today, but over the last week or so...well I actually purchased the Willett Rye over the summer, but it finally made it to my pre-bunker holding area and is on its way to the bunker shortly. Also must thank Doug for the WT No.8 that he gifted to me while I was visiting.

Other than those, there is a WT12 Gold label, a pair of ER 101 L'burg (a 79 and a 80) with the hang tags still on them, a Old Fitz 1849 8yo and a Ancient Age 86proof in the box. The AA was a fun find (and I overpaid for it) it carries the 88076 upc code-dating it to when Schenley (before they became UDV-this stumped us for a while because we couldn't figure out when UDV owned AA) owned the distillery (pre-82) and it's a 750 so 80-newer.

All in all some fun hunting in San Francisco.

Did I read correctly? Has Hi Time accepted your online order to be shipped to Wyoming? They suspended out-of-state shipments, at least for a while.

Yours truly,

Dave Morefield

WT Rare Breed with 2 glasses

Also got Jack Daniels Single Barrel as a gift for xmas. Kind of preferred it in a blind taste test against Dickel Barrel Select, but both were good. George was milder.

The State Web site showed that they now have PVW 12 Lot B at my local liquor store. I gave them a call and sure enough they did! I spoke with the manager who was a very nice guy. I went down to pick up a bottle and spoke with him for a while. He is now ordering a Case of PVW 15 as well! That will be nice to have it 30 minutes closer to home. 2007 is looking up already!

I have never been able to find this bottle in WA. and am looking forward to giving it a try tonight.

Picked up a bottle of RHF. Can't go wrong with that one, beautiful. Also a bottle of Laphroaig 10 to scratch the seaweed & peat itch I seem to have.

Purchased WL Weller from the 06 bottling and a 107 - 10 year squat of ORVW. Tremendous selection in the western Chicago 'burbs. Left many, many jewels behind. Except for WLW that is....

I got a bottle of Old Grand Dad Bottled In Bond.

I am in a lot of liquor stores because of my job and only one carrries this and they had it priced at $24.50.

This week I saw they dropped the priced to $20.50, so I picked one up today.

I have only had the 86 proof and I thought that was the best "low proof" bourbon I have ever had.

I now have 6 opened bottles, which is a lot for me (PVW20, GTS, WTKS, VSOF, PJPK, KP), because of the holidays. When I get down to 2 or 3 I'll be visiting Grand Dad.

Today I picked up some EWSB '96 barreled on 10-18-96, within 20 days of the fire that destroyed the distillery. I'm not sure how often they bottle this so it might be as close as we get to a single barrel of the last stuff ever distilled there.

I was pleased to find that the Wild Turkey Russell's Reserve 101 that was listed on Lenell's web site was still in stock. I picked up 2 so now I can finally open a bottle of this. :)

A Frankfort ORVW 15 which was the last one on the shelf. At $37, a steal. Spotted the distinct bottle of a Louisville OCPR, but was out of $$. Had to leave it there for now.

I purchased a bottle of Wathens Kentucky Bourbon. I have not previously seen it in VA but came across a bottle at my local VA ABC store this evening. At $30, it a fine middle shelf rye bourbon. I thought the finish was dry and sweet, not what I expected. Overall, a good bourbon for a daily pour.
