Tonight, I picked up single-barrel Saz Jr. and Buffalo Trace bottles at Binny's. The BT was on special as well... about $3 off the usual price.

If the GT Stagg is '06, it will be 140.6 proof.

Found a flock of Eagles while hunting in Louisville yesterday. Bagged four and left eleven on the shelf. ER 101 1 Lt.

I picked up a jug of Platte Valley Corn Whiskey. Yes, I know, it's not bourbon, but I found its presentation in the "hillbilly moonshiner" jug a compelling reason to buy it. However, a sticker on the side with the usual government warning also states this stuff is distilled in Kentucky though it's bottled in Missouri.

Another one to scratch off my "must find" list. Picked up two bottles of Old Charter Proprieter's Reserve. I may open it tomorrow but still have 10 bottles open and need to whittle that number down. Now, OCPR may not be rare in your area but here in controlled VA, this is the first time I've seen it on the shelf.

Rare Breed batch 03 and Old Grand Dad 114.

This is my first bottle of each.

I just tried the Old Grand Dad 114. This was my first taste of any liquor greater than 101 in proof. I was suprised that I preceived no harshness at all.

Based on some post here on SB, I went ahead and purchased a bottle of OGD BIB. Not opened yet, have to get my open stock down to a manageable level.

So what number of open bottles is manageable? I'm starting to think I have too many open (29 different varieties).

You will enjoy. I guaranty it!

Yesterday I bought

Old Forester 86 proof. I wanted to wait till I could find a bottle of the 100 proof but the price, 1,450 yen or about $11 US was irresistible

ETL I had to replace an empty bottle

And a Johnny Walker Black, just because I hadn't had any in maybe 15 years. There was a thread about it in the Foreign Whiskey Forum a while ago.

Ed, I just wish my wife could understand this philosophy...those empty bottles don't refill themselves......

Scott, I can't say that my wife really understands the need either. But she mostly lets me buy what I want.

How did you like the OF 86? I'm eyeing a bottle of OF Signature (4-yr-old, 100 proof) but have not bought it yet (have not found any reviews on that particular bottling). I've enjoyed the OF Birthday 2006 and the OF 100 proof.

The OF Signature is simply a relabel of OF100. Same stuff, new branding...if you like OF 100, you'll like OF Signature.

Picked up a WT Rye, and ETL. Have not tasted either of these before but based on reviews I'm pretty sure I'll like them.

I purchased Pappy's family reserve 20yo. Haven't tried it yet, but I think I'll throw the whole thing back in the next month or so.

Picked up a couple of Tax Stamped Early Times Bourbon 200mls. Never tasted this, but want to check it out. Also, a couple of Jacob's Well. I've read here that the whiskey isn't anything to write home about, but I must say that the packaging is very impressive. Question, to anyone who knows: Did the Jacob's Well pre-date Knob Creek? Reason I ask, the graphics on the labels have a very Knob Creek look to them. Maybe, KC borrowed the look, or vise versa?
