I just hold my snifter sideways, trying to keep it level, and pour until the whiskey comes to the lip of the glass, usually anyway. Sometimes I tilt the glass back a little as I pour to the lip. :)

You talkin' to me?!

You talkin' to me?!

You talkin' to me?! Well I'm the only one here. ;)

Tonight I am drinking '07 ER BTAC and '06 GTS, thanks to a very kind member of this site.

As an aside. The '07 ER BTAC is damned good. Wow!!!! Now, I understand what the fuss is about regarding ER as a whole. Next time I'm at the liquor store, I'll have to pick up the ERSB 10.

At the moment, I'm saturating my throat with the '06 Stagg. Without doing a side-by-side, I'd have to say I like the '07 better. But, I'll know for sure in about 30 minutes.

What to do, what to do. I couldn't handle one Mr. John T. Stagg, nevermind two. The morning does not look good for my own physical self.

Saz 18 '06. Now THIS is a rye whiskey! I have a half bottle left and want to drink it down a bit before tearing into my '07 stash.

Mark, does the '06 Saz have a tea leave nose/taste? I love the '07 Saz and that's a major reason why. It's such a nice change-of-pace whiskey.

I happen to be drinking some '05 Stagg

I think that's what happens when you have to close one eye to keep from seeing double when you read the label.

I'm sipping some 07 Handy and at a little sip at a time I really like this bottle. Guess I will have to get another or 2.

You know how there is a baby Saz? Well, there is a baby Stagg too. It's George's little brother John. He's a mean bastahd, I tell you. I fought George and I tell you he pales in comparison to John.

My first bit of WT Rye, it's great! I really wish I hadn't neglected this one for so long.

Old Forester Signature 100 proof

I picked it up in KY last weekend for $15.99, it was on sale.

Fruity and spicey heat, it blows the standard Old Forester out of the water.

And I like it better than the Old Forester Birthday Bourbon that I have had although I have only tried one and it was the Spring 1990.

Tea-leave taste? Id say someone drank your Saz and replaced it with cold tea!

Really, you shouldn't take it out of your sight!

I gave WLW '05 another chance tonight, and I must say it's mellowing out nicely. I added a splash of water. It still has a bit of funk, but not nearly as noticeable or unpleasant. It's been open for about a month, and the air seems to be helping.

Of course, it doesn't hold a candle to the '06...

Good description: I would agree with the tea assessment on the nose and on the palate. Just straight English black tea for the nose plus lavender, but it reminds me of earl gray tea when I taste it.

I also get a herb and grass, rye crisp, cherry, leather and a little wood.

Since the '07 is actually 22 years old (distilled in 1985 despite being called Sazarac 18), there should be even more wood and leather than the '06 (not sure how old the '06 really was).

Mark, good job on further describing the '07 Saz. I know for sure that I can't do that. For me to separate the flavors like you do is all but impossible. Thanks for the descriptive help.

Old Fitz 1849 8 year old vs. Old Fitz 1849 NAS. I like the 8 year old much better. If anyone knows where I can get more of this (I'm on my last bottle!) please let me know. Thanks!

We had an exceptional Ezra-B 12 y/o in our tasting yesterday. It was from barrel 234 barreled in 12/05. Gobs of dark fruit and a finish that went on forever. Good stuff.

ERSB again last night. I'm really starting to become addicted to that stuff.

I think I may try this one again. First pour, I threw out. I have the '97, not sure if that's good or bad.

After a long day of toiling on the largest engines in Wisconsin, once at home, moved old trucks, boat around, poured OGD 114 ,that I purchased today at 18.99. Had that OGD musty taste the first couple of sips, then

tasted smooth, strong, and rye,rye,rye!

Next up-VWFR rye code I, Purchased today, 36.99

Very smooth, nice rye spice!

Then, pulled the cheap stuff out, from rear of cabinet, Rittenhouse BIB.

Sure, not as smooth as VWFRR, but WOW what a value. 10.99

Rye tonight, bourbon tomorrow. Bonfire after yard cleanup, PVW 15, and WLW 06 tommorow night!
