T47
Thanks to the scoop I got from another local SB'r I was able to pick up the last bottle of Saz Jr on the shelf at one of our local stores. It drives me nuts that our State stores do not have a better system for tracking their inventory or making special orders...but we've all beat that horse. Now that we have this growth in SB folk in the northwest it makes it a little easier to find when nice bottles appear on the shelves...we might be able to work this system yet!:toast:
Gillman
I'd use the OF 100 to give a fruity top-note to Woodford, and it may also smooth it out a bit. Also, the proof will go up, if all else is right that's to the good. I'd try 4:1 WR to OF 100.Gary
SSBourbon1
Yesterday, I found the WT American Spirit 15 year. Wow I am excited to see this...found it at Frugal MacDougall's in Rock HIll, SC. They have only one bottle left as far as I could tell.
OscarV
William Larue Weller of the 2007 Buffalo Trace Antique Collection.I tried the WLW for the first time last Friday at Tony's AKA ACDetroit place. It is absolutely outstanding.A couple of years ago I got a bottle of the WLW '05 and I have never opened it because of a lot of negative comments I read here by SB.com members. One person said the taste was alcohol and oak. When the '06 came out I passed on it. Despite rave reviews here.Because I thought how could it be that much better?Right? So I tried the '07 and yeah, it is so very good. Now I am kicking myself for missing out on the '06.If anyone has an '06 BTAC WLW and would consider a trade of something from my bunker PM me. NickAtMartinis
Stick with that ORVW 10/107, as of late I have become quite fond of it.Oscar, my gripe with ORVW 10/107 was/is that it's $8-$10 more expensive than the Weller Antique. The only difference between the two is the age and who is picking the barrels. Gripe number two was that it burned going down somethig fierce. Here's the good of the new ORVW 10/107 purchase: the burn is no longer there with this current bottle. Here's the bad of the new ORVW 10/107 purchase: it still costs $8-$10 more than the Weller Antique.Since first tryin ORVW 10/107, I always felt that it had a better flavor than the Antique and still do. Now, with the burn gone, it makes ORVW even more enjoyable and much more tempting a purchase in the future. For the heck of it, tonight I decided to do a side-by-side of the Antique and ORVW. Having never done this, I figured I'd officially - at least in my mind - figure out which had the fuller/better flavor. And...the ORVW won out.Still, though, I will purchase a lot more Weller Antique than ORVW but that's not a bad thing. Both are very good bourbons. And, as much as I've complained about ORVW 10/107's price, it's still a good value for what lies inside. The big question will always be, is it worth the extra $8-&10? Yes, once in a while it is.Regarding the Van Winkle line as whole, to me the 10/107 is the best, not just for value, but the best bourbon in its line, overall. If I had to rate them soley on flavor, here's how it would go:ORVW 10/107PVW 15PVW 20PVW 23Lot BNow, if I took in consideration price and flavor, my list changes slightly:ORVW 10/107 $28.99PVW 15 $44.99PVW 20 $89.99Lot B $42.99PVW 23 $249.99My feeling is, why purchase the Lot B or PVW 23 at all?! The former is at a strange price point, in my area anyway ($42.99) and the latter is much too expensive. So, why purchase a Lot B when you can either get a 10/107 (only two years younger) for $14 less or get a 15/107 (three years older) for only $2 more!!!!And, why purchase a 23 when you get the 20 soooo much cheaper it's not even funny!!!!Just my $1.50.
barturtle
I spent today picking up new bottles, as well as replacing empties. From the shopping list were:WTASParker'sOld Bardstown 10/101Old Grand Dad BIBOld Fitz BIBVintage 17yo BourbonHH BIB NASAA BIBOC 13Dickel #8Unfortunately that was only a quarter of the shopping list...the rest will have to wait until another day. Luckily that takes care of the pricey bottles...
whiskeyhatch
I didn't buy anything today but I am anxiously awaiting delivery of two 2007 BTAC bottlings tomorrow: Saz and Handy. I cannot wait! BTW Mr. NickAtMartinis... I just wanted to say that your above post was very well said! I put the ORVW 107/10 in my top five for a reason, but the Weller Antique is a very close second.

Old Lamplighter
Finally broke down and brought home a WTAS this evening. The last one in the store and a 10% discount were too much temptation to overcome. Just the same, sure left a hole in the wallet.

Stickeng
I picked up some Sazerac and George T. Stagg both for $59 each! I couldn't believe my eyes when I found both of these bottles right next to each other on a shelf in a wine store in Syosset, NY! I grabbed them both and will be partaking on Christmas Eve with family! I'll have the fire pit going in my backyard, some fresh Torpedo cigars made on Arthur Avenue in the Bronx, and some of this wonderful bourbon neat, while freezing my arse off in the cold weather on Long Island!Merry Christmas! ACDetroit
Well I found a bottle od 1976 bicentennial OGD bottle tonight on the way home the tac stap was off and the crystal top missing but for $14 bucks I had to grab it. I have poured one and it is very sweet with very little finish. I do see now what the big deal is on these old ND bottlings, the plastic stopper was not great so I decantered this into something with a better cork. On a better note I received a package today from a fellow SB.comer and inside a beautifly wrapped box was a bottle of BMH 18yr. Rye, can not wait to open this. NickAtMartinis
Finally, I found some OF BIB. It's not a SW and it's real good stuff. Not complex, very straight forward but a solid bourbon, especially for the price.
gblick
Yesterday I found three dusty 200ml bottles of Weller 107 with authentic tax strips and 85 stamped into the glass on the bottom. The guy at the store offered me a pretty old (pre-govt warning) 375ml bottle of George Dickel #12 (which I've never tried any Dickel of any kind) for only $5, so I couldn't resist getting it for science. I've yet to try it, probably this weekend.
gblick
I guess I could have mentioned above that day before yesterday I found a 1L bottle of OGD BIB distilled & bottled at DSP-KY-14 stamped 93 on the bottom. I look forward to having my first taste of the revered "ND" OGD by this weekend.

Old Lamplighter
Visited just a couple of stores this evening on the drive home. First place, I passed on the one WTKS on the shelf. It was bottled on Halloween, 2006......just a little too creepy.....afraid of additional unwanted spirits in that bottle. All I need are more goblins and gremlins in the house.Second stop, again had only one WTKS on the shelf. This one was bottled on St. Patrick's Day, 2006. Decided not to pass on this one.......somebody trying to tell me something......hope it brings me luck. My first WTKS buy in a couple of years. Looking forward to opening it sometime in the near future. In the meantime, if a leprechaun turns up in the house, I'll let everyone know.
swampguy
At the store there were many choices but I settled on one of my favorites: Old Weller Antique 107. Just a damn good drink.

bigtoys
Bombay sapphire 1.75 L...$37.Oops!! Wrong forum. Man, that's a bargain compared to our bourbon purchases. Pretty good selection of bourbon at Binny's Express in Glencoe, a pretty small, kinda cramped store in a stripp mall. Stagg 07, both 4R's.
