An Old Granddad vertical: 1968 BIB, 1972 86pf, 1985 86pf and a 50ml from last year for comparison's sake.

A common thread runs through them, but the ND product has a complexity that today's Beam version can't touch. (I actually preferred the 80s expression, with a hint of buttered popcorn(!) in the nose.)

Eagle Rare 101 Lburg bottle very dark juice in this bottle! it is better that the other 2 releases of the 101!

Just the opposite of Martian! I love the 101 and can drink the 90 in a pinch!!

To each his own!

Cheers!

Four Roses Single Barrel. I just finished a half a shot. Now will try the Beam Black I also just bought...

I will say the Four Roses Single Barrel is a totally different experience than your 10 dollar whiskeys. It doesn't even taste like whiskey to me, but more like some sort of liquer, .... unfortunately it tastes like doctor pepper or robitussin so far, I can learn to appreciate it though I bet! Its not like your Evan Williams Vanilla Maple Syrup (I love that taste)

OK, now I am trying the Jim Beam Black and it is more familiar tasting, more bourbon tasting to me than the Four Roses. I like this Jim Beam Black. It was still expensive but it came with a hip flask, so I didn''t feel so bad about it. Like 2 bucks with a flask. The 4Roses Single bbl was like 26.

Still enjoying the 1985 ND Old Granddad I started last night; finished up with a short pour (only a few left from this bottle) of 1968 Old Fitz BIB.

RHF - as this bottle gains air time it seems to be losing some of the earthiness that has always defined it and is gaining sweetness.

OGD 114

WLW 06

Parkers Heritage 122.6

aaaand now its time for bed...

Yesterday! not so much tonight I made a road trip to Oscar's house with a buddy of mine! The kind Doctor was also in the house and fun was had by all! As for the day I stopped at a great BBQ joint on the way and picked up some ribs, Oscar's wife made slaw and F-fries (needless to say we did not walk away hungry). Before dinner we started with the baby Saz and all were impressed for the money this was a great bottle!

The next pour was a ER 101 La bottle just outstanding, after dinner we had a sip of some Pappy 20 and a great choice for after a meal. Then we had a blind tasting which was really fun!

OGD 114 ND and OGD 114 current

The ND bottle won out in my opinion but we all agreed JB has done a great job with the current OGD 114.

Thank you Oscar for all the hospitality and food & drink you're alright in my book!!

Oh yeah you need to show off your Bourbon room fella!! That place is amazing, I really did not want to leave!

Cheers!

Tony

Just remembered I said nothing about the Parker Heritage 122.6 first release Oscar opened while there. The bottle is right with just a splash of water this stuff really opens up! We all were impressed! Thanks again Oscar!!

ORVW 10 Year Old 107 Proof. This was my first taste and I agree will all the favorable comments I have read. A fine whiskey at a good price. I will purchase the next one I find as a backup to this soldier now on the front line.

Eagle Rare 10 and Pappy 20 at a Superbowl party.

The Pappy 20 was emptied (only about 25% left to start) by halftime.

W L Weller 19yr from 2002. I save it for special occasions such as today, my birthday. It is as good as I remember. What a shame that it is no longer available.

Damn, ANOTHER Tennessean! Happy birthday. Have you tried the William Larue Weller barrel-proof (from the BT Antique Collection, as was the Weller 19)?

L'Burg Eagle Rare 101 bottle says it's 1987. Really glad this is a big bottle! I will still hate to see the end of it.

Tony,

Have you compared that bottle to others? I have two bottles from Frankfort and two from New Orleans. I've been unable to any bottle from L'burg.
