Nice day! By the way, how do you read that statement of Lyndon Johnson? I mean, it stands to reason one will get very sick drinking a quart of bourbon (in fact doing this can easily kill a person). Was he being critical of over-drinking in general? Just trying to figure out what he meant.

Well Wednesday nights are Mt. Bike night it seems. Got home and had a Little Kings Cream Ale with dinner (great flavor). Now a small pour of Rittenhouse 21yr old Rye and off to la, la, land.

I relized tonight I'm getting old. The kid riding with us just bought a bike and he's 28. Not much off road experience but I can see at his body weight (much lighter than myself) he will be catching up soon. I think he ment it as a compliment when he said to me and another guy, " I'm impressed with you 2...I mean you guys are old".

Honest I did not punch him, I just started riding again and told him keep up puppy this old mans done waiting for your slow ass!:grin:

Trying Ezra B single barrel for the first time and I'm pretty disappointed, it just doesn't taste good to me. It's taste and smell to me are both sweet, almost like honey, but, at the same time, there is a strong lime/citrus element to it as well and they don't go good together imo. I actually cringed on the last sip I took... good thing I've got some open VW bottles! I'll definitely sample again another day in case it was something I ate earlier or whatever but so far I'm not liking this one. I wonder how a Manhattan made with this would taste...

Scott-- How'd that work for you? I've found that 1792 tastes great alone, or as the first of a flight, but it really tastes "off" at the end of the night (or did the MM neutralize the EWSB before you got to it?)

Kevin, You're spot on there. I love 1792 by itself or starting, but last night after the EWSB and Makers it really didn't hit the spot. Almost tasted 'dirty'.

I'm on vacation this week and next.

Hanging out at home this week doing yard work etc.

Next week we are going up to Traverse City.

We have a hotel suite that opens up on the Bay. Going to check out L Mawby where they make sparkling wine in the Champagne method, they got their equipment from France and I have never been to Sleeping Bear Dunes so gotta see that.

I am drinking coffee now,...it's 5am.

Tonight I had a Rare Breed then I got thinking what I could do about this Hirsch 16 to make it better, so I vatted it 50/50 with Thomas Handy Rye.

As I reduced the proof slightly with water to take the Barrel proof hit out of it, it got worse and worse, until the Hirsch had killed my Handy:smiley_acbt:

Now I don't know what's next.

Wish my night would have ended before 2:00 am.

What am I drinking tonight? Classic bourbon of all time-my opinion-AAA 10 year old. Goes down easy, tastes great and absolutely consistant day after day, month after month, and year after year. Cheers, Marvin
