Joe, is that the current AA BIB? I picked up a bottle early this year for about $13 a 750 and thought it was pretty tasty.

Yes, it is. I brought it home with me from the Sampler, in April. Right around that $13 you got yours for. Greg, isn't it amazing how many truly awesome bourbons there are, at such riduculously low prices? I'm now on to a VOB BIB. Another wonderful, but cheap pour.

I really like the VOB BIB and BT's future plans for this label concerns me. Barton brands is not widely distributed but I'm on the hunt to pick up a couple cases on the chance BT messes with the distribution or mashbill. I found a place in MD that may be able to get me some bottles for around $9 each.....which is a fantastic price for a age stated, 100 proof, good tasting bourbon.

In spite of, and in the face of Beam's Knob Creek shortage.

A genorous slug of Knob over one cube.

It's been a while since I had Woodford Reserve so I figured I'd give it a try and I was pleasantly surprised...the bottle has gotten better since I opened it a couple months ago. I followed that pour up with healthy sized BT and ER 10/90's...a good night! :)

Broke out the first of my holiday purchases tonight, the dangerously drinkable Four Roses Small Batch (purchased from the distillary no less!). Looking round the gift shop before the tour, I had my head set on a bottle of the Single Barrel, however after tasting all 3 FR products after the demonstration, I couldn't not pick this one up. Cut it with a drop of filtered water and generously applied to my FR rocks glass, just like being back in KY.

On a slight tangent, and something that will now annoy me for the rest of the evening, are Four Roses the only distillary where the last letter of the first word is the same as the first of the second?

We're heading off for Thai, in a few minutes. Getting things started off with a nice Lot B. I know, Oscar has said it many times. And, I agree. The Van Winkles dumped some beautiful whiskey, this last year.

Went to a friends house for a party and besides lots of wine and craft beer, we sampled:

ER18

Weller SR

'87 Old Forester

FRSB Angel Share

I haven't had the EC is a very long time and at first nosing, I picked up green apple....anyone else pick that up?

Heather and I went to a party her boss threw and I spotted a tax stamped Old Ezra 15 yr 101 pr (with a bottle date of '78) in the back of his mostly scotch liquor cabinet. The cork broke off when I opened it, but I'm guessing it tastes as good as the day it was bottled- It smelled of maple and leather with a similar taste and a nice long spicy finish. I thought the color alone was worthy of a pic, not to mention my re-bottling skills! The wordsmanship on the side label is worth repeating as well:

'For 15 long years that whiskey just kept slowly agin', naturally mellowin', right inside those select, heavily charred White Oak barrels. The result: OLD EZRA, a 15 year old, 101 proof Sippin' Whiskey...so sippin' smooth you know it could come only from the folks at Kentucky's Finest Little Distillery.'

Very nice. I enjoyed both your little write-up and your photo.

Getting ready to throw some fat ribeyes on the grill, and I'm relishing an Ancient Age BIB Mint Julep.

I spent the weekend at a team building camp-out in the Mohican River area of central Ohio. The 6 guys on my team all pitched in to cook one meal each (I made ribs on the smoker for Saturday dinner) and there was an assortment of beer and such. I took along a Binny's Weller 12 and a Binny's Buffalo Trace. The Weller disappeared and only one pour of the BT came home so I think I may have developed some new bourbon fans (I certainly didn't drink all of that myself)

Bourbon and s'mores around the campfire were tasty.

Ahhhhh! The ribeyes were great, and the WTRR 101 was a terrific complement. My experience tells me that Turkey goes well with beef.

WT101 and then some WTRR90. The 90 tastes real sweet and smooth after that 101....a good one-two punch!

Drinking down my bottle of Booker's. This has the added benefit that it sorta grows on me (yeah, yeah, better temperature control will prevent the growth - grin).

Yesterday I had EC12 before dinner, WT 8 with the blueberry cake for dessert and OFBB fall 90-03 later in the evening. The EC had lots of eucalyptus in the taste and finish. Last bottle I had were none. I really gather to all others that have stated that there is a big difference between bottles in this brand.

Finally found a bottle of WLW12, it is delicious so I bought and bunkered two more. I'm also enjoying a little WR. Quickly becoming my favorites....ORVW107. Just damn good stuff.
