doubleblank
Going SW tonight. Pappy 20 to start.....this one refreshes my memory of why I like the 15 better. Just a little too much wood for me. Then the 2005 KBS BOTY Weller 12. Now this is more like it. Somewhat delicate, but I don't mind having to study my whiskey to see what's in there. The trademark cottton candy is there. Very nice. Not my favorite of the four barrels we bought that year, but solid SW at 13 1/2 years old.Randy

TNbourbon
Going SW tonight...somewhat delicate, but I don't mind having to study my whiskey to see what's in there. That's a great line, Randy, and a good lesson to some of the newer and less-experienced members here: a little patience and some conscious thought allows us to find premium bourbon in other than G.T. Stagg bottles. Many of the 'wowser', historic S-Ws I've found and sampled required some pondering and comparisons to taste memories. I'm down to a singleton each of the '05 BOTY and Barrel 'C' from those four selections (well, three selections, and one accident!) -- since I've enjoyed several of each already, I'm inclined to let them be my sole shelf 'queens' into my old age or, at least, somewhat older age (next week?). smokinjoe
My boss, (not THE BOSS, he runs this site, ya know) made me go to our plant in South Carolina, for a trial run tomorrow. Well, I bitched, but he is the boss.(Again, not THE BOSS ). Thought I'd make the 3 hour drive tonight, so I could get to the plant early tomorrow. While stopping to get gas, I spied a liquor store across the street. I just HAD to go in... Pulled out 2 Old Rip Van Winkle 15's, and 2 Lawrenceburg Lot B's. :woohoo: I can't wait for my next assignment!

nor02lei
I got a parcel today from mr Kruger with 2 bottles. One Overholt bottled 1981 distilled at Michters and one WT 101 bottled 1984. I got them at low bids. My tactic to bid a lot of low bids on good but not “must have†bottles pay of quit a bit I must say.Leif
BBQ+Bourbon
Yesterday, I found a liquor store that had two Jefferson PS and a half dozen Lot B Van winkle without the Julia(n) sticker. Wanted to buy one but could not justify it because another store is ordering BTAC for me.Today I went to another store to pick up the JRPS I promised to a fellow board member and it was gone! Picked up an OGD 114 for good measure. This confirms my long standing suspicion that somebody else is in my area hunting bourbon. Long story, but somebody is in KC hunting and he's looking at the same bottles I am. Odds are, it's an SB member.Today, I went to the store in question and picked up the two remaining JRPS and one Lot B. Hopefully my competition won't come to this store and discover that the JRPS is gone. If he does, I am confident he'll clean out the remaining Lot B. Otherwise I'll nab a couple each week until one is left. I will leave the last one for Mr X.One day I am sure I'll meet this other bourbon nut. Can't wait! We'll have a ball! DeanSheen
Dan Ackroyd said it best, "Mmm...that's good bass."Man, for how dear this stuff is it better not taste like fish.I may drink it out of thimbles just so I dont kill a bottle in 2 sittings. It is an interesting concept, but I could have bought a lot more bottles for these prices.
