Tony you got that right. :) And Scott, that Trace sounds solid.

Right now, a personal blend of Jack Daniels (the different iterations blended to my particular taste) with two dashes of Stirrings Orange Bitters.

Leif, I have never had Fernet Branca. Can you describe it a bit more? How is it consumed? Is it only taken as an after-dinner digestif?

Enjoying some WT 8. This is a great bottle, but it's almost gone. I may have to make a run for the border soon. I always work up an appetite doing that. Duty Free + Tunnel BBQ = pure bliss.

Had some Binny's Barrel Select WL Weller 12 this evening...it's everything that I have heard it was and more. I simply love this bourbon...it's sweet on entry and has lots of Vanilla and Toffee. At $22 a bottle this stuff is fantastic...heck at $50 this stuff is fantastic!

After trying the Binny's Barrel Select Weller 12 on Saturday, I had to buy a bottle as well, but haven't opened it yet. I did, however, also pick up a bottle of Binny's ETL and cracked it tonight. Not as good as the Weller, but not bad. It seemed to get better with every sip.

It is a very spicy 80 proof bitter from Italy. It has a lot of flavours from different herbs. The most dominant is a very bitter taste from wormwood and some mint in the background. It is aged one year in wood and slightly sweated with sugar. As the taste is very intense it’s no idea the drink anything light afterwards for a long time. It is at its best consumed as a digestive and/or as medicine. I drink it in the same type of glass as bourbon. It does have a very, very good effect on all kinds of stomach problems.

With Atlanta being the home to Coca-Cola, there was a story in the Atlanta paper about a year ago regarding Fernet Branca. Apparently, Fernet mixed with Coke is hugely popular in Argentina. Kinda their National Cocktail. Mixed 1:3-1:4 Fernet:Coke, poured over ice. I've tried it, and it's not bad. I have to say though, sipping Fernet neat for the first time, is like licking dust. Very dry and bitter, but there is an interesting accumulation of flavors once you get past the initial shock.

I'll see you that OWA 7 year and raise ya' a OWA 7 year (08 model) jacked up with some WLW.

I dithered around trying to blend Lot B and WLW with the intent that I'd ad the result to an open bottle of OWA keeping everything at roughly 107..........finaly, I just said screw it and topped off the Antique with the WLW and gave it a good shake.

I was even going to use an empty handle of WT101 as a vessel for my 'blending'.....but I'd have to wash it out........ and that's a lot of crap I didn't want to do...........:grin:

Having some Blanton's Barrel Proof I bought in London a few years ago. I like this alot. Some have given negative reviews of this before.......but this is excellent. It is the regular Blanton's taste profile with a scoop of ice cream on top. An added layer of richness and sweetness. I like it.

I just had some courtesy a friend, and agree. It has an old-fashioned taste, too, there is a medicinal/old fruit-like taste that reminds me of numerous old bourbons tasted from the early post-war era.

Elijah Craig 12 vs. 1792. EC's the winner, and the fact that at $14/750ml it's $5 less than 1792 makes it even sweeter (in a good way).

Sunday I mixed fall 08 LotB with OWA 06 and found it to be fantastic. This is one of the best pours I've had. I'm think that if BT mixed these two, they could sell it for $50/bottle. These are two of my favorites and considering that 1) thier profiles are similar 2) OWA needs a touch more age and 3) Lot B needs more fire, it's no surprise that I like this mix.

Drinking a pour of Dickel no 12 tonight. This being my first experience with Dickel 12, I'm trying to decide whether to buy more. Right now, it seems to be a good whiskey that doesn't justify the $24 price tag. There's nothing wrong with it and plenty that's right, but there are better whiskey's for that money and equal for less. It seems to me an indistinguished bottle that is not offensive yet unremarkable.

Odds are, I'll have an open bottle on tap, but will not bunker any.

It's funny how much I enjoy sipping even mediocre whiskey. This is one that everybody should try at least once.

The HH Bib dryness is hitting me again. I don't mind these pours, but I wasn't in a position to enjoy tonight, just some utility pours as I took care of some business.

That 09 Stagg in the basement is calling me. Maybe next week. I've made it two nights so far, whats another few?
