While at Bourbon's Bistro with some of the guys last night I had Old Granddad 114 for the first time. Wow, what a bourbon, and knowing that a fifth goes for $22 made it taste that much better.

Sampled some of my re-barrel project.....VOB BIB. After two weeks it's a little darker and has more flavor. So far so good.

I've been dabbling around with tiny little pours of a couple of different selections. AA BIB, EC 18, Willett "Crazy Bong Bottle". All good..........until I got to the Baby Saz. Oh...My.....GOODNESS!!!!!!!!! :bowdown: I'm utterly...stunned. Brace yourself Effie!!! Here comes the Big One!!!!!!!!!!! I don't know if I have ever tasted a whiskey that has ever tasted so ever good. I've been digging on the Baby Saz for some months now, but this....THIS....is....uh....is...uh...I'm speechless. If you were to ask me now, "What is the ONE whiskey you MUST have?" "That be the Baby Saz, Brabry!"

Of course, this could all change tomorrow...

Last night it was a sample of some '67 AA 6yr 86 proof from a very generous member. Delicious! Also a bit of '89 Walker's Deluxe -- that juice tastes almost exactly like a HH BIB Gold Label I have from '90.

After that a small taste of Julio's RHF from last year -- I'm not really digging it the last couple times I've poured it. The only thing I seem to love from this mashbill is the AAA 10yr.

Just the plain ol' standard bottling, Josh. Besides being extremely tasty, the thing I really dig about the Baby Saz, is that it actually tastes like a rye. I swear some of the standard ryes like OO, JB, WT (to a degree, though it is my favorite of these others), and over the last year or so even the Ritt BIB, are hardly more than spicier bourbon. I can hardly tell they're ryes. With the Baby, you KNOW.

That's a nice lineup. I can't find the Wathens anymore but glad I have one in the bunker.

I've been very impressed with the Wathen's. There's no age statement but it has some of the flavors I usually pick up in some older expressions (it tastes somewhere between 10 and 12 yrs old to me) There's also a smoothness there that exceeds it's price-point. A very reliable lead-off hitter, no doubt.

I have been away for a conference for my work a couple of days. I did bring a WT 101 from the beginning of the 90-is and OGD 114. They did taste good both of them. Very quit beside that and no parting as my work mates are of the careful and strict school. Today I did have Weller 12 and lot B. It was the last out of both bottles and I must say I did like the Weller slightly better.

Popped open one of the Old Ezra's I got today. Just as good as I remembered it. It isn't the smoothest whiskey around, but it's got a good flavor to it. Not unique enough for my palate to pick out anything significant, but I can't find anything I don't like.

The nose has some charcoal to it. I don't taste it though. Somebody mentioned something about charcoal filtering and JD recently. This definitely does not taste like JD, in a good way.

Tony: Started the evening with an EW 7 & 8 sisde by side.

Both 90 proof, both very good.

Oscar: Ah yes, then the 4R1B McScrooges, followed up by the 4R 2009 Mariage, yeah a great follow up, it paired up great.

Tony:Then we moved on to the 1991 EC 18yo, which might be the best EC 18 I've ever had. "General release".

Oscar: After dinner it was the JRPS 17yo Batch 2, no doubt about it, it's S-W.

Tony:WTKS from the Bourbon Society, a true testimonial that the Bird Is Back.

Oscar: Let's wrap this up, ER 101, '09 Stagg, '09 Larue and I think that was it.

Tony: Still early but we gotta go pick up your kid.
