smokinjoe
Relishing in a newly purchased OGD 114. $23 of absolute Nirvana. In addition to that "slightly burnt corner of the brownie pan" that I usually get, a wonderful tinge of orange essence is coming through. It's such a thick bourbon. Booming flavor. 114 is a lot of proof, but it just never seems to overpower everything else. This is spectacular whiskey.Possibly bold, potentially blasphemous, but positively believed by me, statement time: I'll take today's 114 over the ND version any day of the week. I believe it's THAT good.

The 1981 114 OGD juice from ND is some of the best bourbon I have ever had. I might have to go pick up a bottle. The last ones I had tasted like they were aged in tin cans. jburlowski
I'm wrestling with a 13-YO Willett from the Party Source (barrel 3665). First impressions weren't good because a strange finish overpowered everything else. It's hard to describe, but I tasted sour wood, menthol, and overcooked vegetables. I've encountered similar flavors in the occasional off bottle of Elijah Craig 12.I kept drinking it over the course of a week, neat, with water, and over ice. Nothing got rid of the odd finish and aftertaste (a bit of water actually made it more obvious). I then used it to make a Manhattan, which was terrific. I guess I'll let the half-finished bottle sit for a while and see if anything happens to the flavors. If not, I'll use it to make tasty, but very pricy Manhattans. I'm curious about the other Party Source Willett bottlings, as members seem to like them a lot.I've been enjoying one of the other PS 13 yo Willett (barrel 3701) ---- no problems there. Luna56
Having a little pour of my old standby, ERSB. Just opened this one. It's a bit more tannic than usual and the "mustiness" is nowhere to be found. A little disappointed in this one.Cheers!
jburlowski
Enjoying the PS 17 yo Willett SB. Rich, flavorful, savory stuff at an amazingly low 97 (barrel) proof. Then my wife and I enjoyed a little Wild Geese Irish Soldiers and Heroes Single Malt Irish whisky in early anticipation of St. Pat's Day. DeanSheen
Caipirinha's at happy hour. After a little breather and some stereo tweaking I poured myself an ER 10/90 to go with the new discs I got in the mail today from across the pond.Winter, violin, and whiskey. A very good combination.
