Got me my first bottle of Buffalo Trace from the new distribution channels down under

I bought my first bottle today in NC as well. Seems to be a lot of mixed feelings here regarding BT. So I'm trying to approach this one with minimal expectations with the hopes of being pleasantly surprised.

Halifax, part of the appeal of the BT for me is the price. A great deal at $23.

So Saturday was a great Bourbon Hounds event. Get together at Brads place (yes I still have a problem, and my name is Tony). I mapped a route that I had never taken and ended up finding.

I happened across a very lonely bottle of 2008 GTS today and it was priced right at $58.50. It is now very happy with it's friends in my bunker!

Two weeks ago, I couldn't resist it and picked up ORVW23. The packaging is really nice. Can't wait to try it but that will be a while.

Today, I picked up some replenishment to my stash

GTS 2009 - 2x at $69 which is a good price around here. Will have to try this. I just open another bottle of GTS08 so I can compare them freshly opened.

I got a parcel 2 days ago with an Overholt distilled at OGD and yesterday I got WTKS, and an 86 proof Dickel 12 in open bottles (leftovers from a tasting event) in a parcel. Both were from German E-bay and the prices were very good.

My wife and I arrived in Cedarburg/Grafton Wisconsin this morning for a weekend away. Of course I stopped at a liquor store on the way in. Found a lot of stuff, but only bought a 09 WLW for $59.99, and a ERSB on sale for $19.99. :grin: Might hit that store again. They had Pappy 20, Lot B, VWFRR, and a few others of interest. Should be a good weekend. Joe

I thought I'd hit every one in the area I was in today but I came across a liquor store that I must have missed. Picked up some OGD114 partly because I can't remember the last time I saw it anywhere. The price ($26.99) seemed fair but at this point I have no idea if it really was. It's funny but I didn't enjoy this one much the one other time I bought it but lately I've actually been thinking about what I remember of the taste and it seemed pretty appealing. This has actually happened with some foods that I now really enjoy so I'm really looking forward to re-trying this one later on.

I finally broke down and bought a GTS, happily at the state minimum. The store had a good selection. I also got my first bought-in-Michigan 4R yellow label there.

The guy who sponsors my Monday night bowling league is a shot and a beer drinker and I've been feeding him samples of bourbon for a couple of years to see what he likes. I came up empty each time until I opened his eyes with baby Saz. He said that he really liked the rye spice and it wasn't too woody. Bingo!

He's a very generous person with the league (and in the bar after bowling) so I always give him a bottle at the end of the season. I'm breaking the string of of Canadian whiskey gifts (BV) with a bottle of Saz.

My post was not meant to be rude by the way. We just need more info on why you made your purchase. Was it cost, intrique of something new, cool bottle? These one-off posts just will not do.

At a different store, I also managed to find another couple of bottles of ORVW 10/107 which I had been looking for, but at $59.99 a bottle, I figure I'll check back on them next year and see if anybody's bothered to buy them. BTAC was a "bargain" at $99.99 a piece. Note to self: Don't visit said store again.
