FYI, Spring bottling for all brands are being bottled as I type. Allocation will be shipped out early March per Old Rip Van Winkle Distillery depending if all the bottling goes as planned. SWEEEEET!

Great news, although it won't make much of a difference for me, since we won't get it in OH. The last time I found it was about 2 years ago when Binny's had it on their website. Since then, I've been unsuccessful in finding any.

VW said that the PVW 15 is a SW distilliate for those that have wondered.

Also the last of the PVW 15, right?

Well, I doubt it. Someone asked about whether the PVW 15 was a S-W distillate on Facebook, and I said that it was. Someone from ORVW (Preston?) then chimed in saying that it wasn't, but then they came back an hour later and said, whoops, that I was right, and that it was. I hate to harp on this, but I really think that stumping the distiller has to be worth a prize. I wonder what the prize should be? (If it is Preston, I apologize... I hope I didn't get you in trouble with the Old Man!)

But what was really interesting was the message from ORVW, as if we haven't parsed all of this enough:

David, 15yr is still SW too. I was thinking in terms of barrel dates but we bottled up a couple of years worth of inventory last year so that the barrels wouldn't get any older.

That leads me to believe that they're going to release more into the future. This makes me feel happy in the feelings.

Well, if we speak with a soft voice while hightailing it down to the allocated dealers with plastic in hand to make a reserve purchase maybe we will get there before the word gets out.

I have only ever managed to get hold of one bottle of PVW 15. It sits unopened in my bunker for fear that I'll never be able to nab another. I am not a hoarder by any means, but really am expecting this to be something special after trying the 20. So weird that the 20 is so much easier to come by than the 15. My local has 2 cases of the 20 right now! And no i am not sharing who that is unless you want to PM me.

I plan on grabbing every PVW 15 that I can with this release. If I could score two-three bottles I would sleep very well at night.

They are both somewhat scarce around here, point of fact I believe almost all my Van Winkle purchases over the years were made while traveling out of State.

I may have to make a special trip up to MI this Spring in an effort to nab another bottle or two after having my first sip of the 15 this past weekend.

God I hope so too, especially for the 15's.

They also said "All 20 & 23 year old Pappy is still S-W. This is the last year of the 20yr."

That is the first I have read that, thought it was suppose to be just the 15 likely. Guess ill have to lock down a couple bottles of the 20 on my next order in March.

War Damn Eagle above too!

I find the 20 to be quite different from the 15, so you may want to open that bottle you're holding. As for availability, since the 15 is 1/2 the price of the 20, it soars off the shelf. As for the 20 sitting on shelves, unlike Scotch drinkers, Bourbon drinkers are famously frugal.

Definitely agree that the 15 and 20 have two completely different profiles. Love both of them. Here in CT the pricing was usually around:

PVW 15 - $69

PVW 20 - $110

I love the 20 and feel it's worth the extra coin to acquire some

Where did you see that it's the last release of the 20? SW closed in 92, so 20 years would bring us to 2012, not taking in consideration on Julian bottling a bunch to allocate out years after, as he is doing with the 15 year.

It was quoted on their facebook page by whomever is running it. I would assume it was Preston as he mentioned at one time he was going to be adding a page to facebook.

not doubting you saw it, but I couldn't find that post on FB. And I have a hard time thinking that to be true. Here's hoping it's not. Cheers!

I feel lucky - in NY the 15 can be had for $55. - $60. and the 20 for $100. - $105.

And yes, for $55. I did buy the last of the 15s from the store. A quote from the

BourbonDork: "It won't be any cheaper than it is today." I'm trying to convince

myself to grab the 20s while I can.

I look forward to the Spring release of the 15s and will get all I can afford.
