not doubting you saw it, but I couldn't find that post on FB. And I have a hard time thinking that to be true. Here's hoping it's not. Cheers!

I was reading down the page the other day and saw this as well. It looks like someone either made a mistake or said something they shouldn't have because it's been deleted. Someone specifically asked about any of the PVW stuff being SW. The reply mentioned the 15 was and that this would be last year of the 20.

The comment was located underneath the 3rd post from the top. It was in response to "Bob Albano"s questions about when the juice comes from. This where the comment was made. It was in between the 4th and 5th comment where whoever runs their page replied with "the 15 is still SW juice but this is the last year of the 20 year."

right, I have little doubt that this isn't the last of the 20 year van winkle. If it was, they wouldn't have deleted that.

Hmm...I don't remember seeing that they said this was the last year of Pappy 20. They talked about the ORVW 15 and how that used to be the package before it was changed to Pappy 15 but there was no mention of the 20yr going away.

It's not deleted I just read it

"Old Rip Van Winkle Distillery All 20 & 23 year old Pappy is still S-W. This is the last year of the 20yr.

February 18 at 8:16am"

I'd have to think that is an error, or they're trying to drive up demand for the 20 year some.

If they are discontinuing the 20 it is so they can continue the 23 for a little bit longer. Perhaps in terms of the prices they can get, taking the 20 off the market and using that stock to support the 23 may be more profitable. Perhaps discontinuing one or the other was inevitable. After all, every drop of S-W that they sell as Pappy 15 is whiskey that will never turn 20 or 23. It's about maximizing that finite resource.

I don't know if it's true or not, but it's very plausible.

I wonder how many barrels of SW juice are sitting in SB.com members' bunkers. I'm guessing the count is more than VW has left for sale.

to throw more confusion in the mix:

"15yr is still SW too. I was thinking in terms of barrel dates but we bottled up a couple of years worth of inventory last year so that the barrels wouldn't get any older."

so this would lead me to believe there are a few years of 15 to be released.

Yes

Chai Vang

Are the current PVW 20 & 23 all S-W bourbon or is it a blend with BT? When can we expect the remaining S-W stock to run out?

Go ahead and wait for the few years of Pappy 15's to be there...I bet the spring release will be the last as he said back in 08 that he bottled enough for 2-3 years.

who ever said I was going to wait??

I was just posting a conflicting statement from their FB site. I've already secured several bottles to be added to the bunker.

I got a phone call today from a store that I frequent saying that he was delivered a single bottle of 23 year, offering it to me. Price was about $165. I'm not personally interested in the 23, but the juice is in fact getting onto the shelves. He said there were 9 bottles total in the city.

$165 for the 23 yo is dirt cheap...the cheapest i've found is $200

Bravo, everyone. Into our fifth page in two days.

You might as well just get the moderators to take down the "Straight Bourbon.com" graphic and put up the Old Rip branding on this site. There are many members of the cult here.

I drink the kool-aid sparingly. As it seems they are running short.

If I could only find their 15 year old Kool-aid...!
