What Bourbon did you purchase today? - Summer 2011

Found a 2010 PHC 124.2 for $48.99...how can this be? It sells for $68-$79 in Chicago. I was happy to add another to the bunker for that price.

Picked up a bottle of 1792 Ridgemont Reserve this weekend up in the Land of Beer and Cheese. First bourbon purchase in a month. Budgeting sucks!

I just found out last week FR is available in Iowa Mellow Moments email. I called my local very small liquor store to see if they could get it for me and they said yes. Yipe! no waiting to go to KY for this!

Picked up a few today, a 4RSB, can't decide whether to taste it or lay it away for my 2 month old's 21'st birthday. Probably buy another soon to taste or layaway.

Also picked up a Very Special Old Fitzgerald, the owner said it's been on the shelf for a few years, but no clue as to it's age really.

And a bottle of Old Weller 107, no antique on the label. Just says Old Weller the Original 107 Proof Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey.

She had plenty of 375's, a few 750's and a handle of this stuff, along with a Weller 12 year silver label handle. I have to try this before I buy more....

I ordered a 750 Jim Beam Devils Cut and a 750 Early Times 354 Bourbon today. I am looking forward to trying Devils Cut and I picked up the Early Times 354 Bourbon for grins and to balance out the shipping charges.

My area of New Mexico is a wasteland for anything but "well bourbon" so I have to order most things.:smiley_acbt:

Ledger's / EBSG McKenna Barrel #8 BIB/10YO.... nice pick here by Roger and the EBSG.... IMO several steps above the better shelf versions of this I have had. Nice value for a 10YO BIB ... under $30.

Todays purchase is actually kind of exciting. It's my mystery bottle purchase from Binny's.

About two months ago, I sent along to my sister a little extra in her birthday card, along with the instructions to grab something for me, and then the rest was for her. I also gave her some "ideas" of what I would like. It was generous for both her and the purchase.

Since then she has kept me in the dark about it. But she has graciously now passed it on to my Mom, who has a bad case a grandbaby fever and needs to make her trip out here to get her "fix". I'm sure you that have grandkids get this.

As fun as it is to go to the store and pick something, this has been pretty exciting too!:grin: Plus I know I'm getting something that i can't get locally.

Only six more hours of suspense to go!!!

For the first time ever, I actually saw a bottle of VWFRR on the shelf at my local preferred store. Although I'd vowed to just buy a sixer of my dad's favored brew for his birthday party this weekend, I ended up buying said bottle and, since I was already surpassing my budget, figure a backup Weller 12 couldn't hurt me either. (Budget schmudget.)

The suspense is over. Actually, its been over for about 9 hours. But before I found out what it was there was another purchase.

As mentioned earlier today in another thread, I was bummed that some local Pappy 20 that I've been buying slowly over time had been snapped up by somebody else. But much to my amazement, there was something else new in stock that i've been wanting, but was never expecting to come into stock. Across the isle from where the Pappy was, sat three bottles of Colonel E.H Taylor JR. From speaking with a very knowledgeable source not long ago, I never thought that i would see any in my area. Our state allocation was pretty minimal to begin with. And through a fortunate trade, I managed to grab one of the limited bottles. So to ease the pain of my Pappy lose, I decided to pick up another Taylor. Plus, I really have a thing against just having one bottle of something if I can help it. I like to have one to sample, and another to store away for some later day.

Fast forward a couple of hours later, and what is handed over to me from my sister's mystery purchase............Another Taylor. Just my dumb luck, that I buy another bottle of something I figured I wouldn't be able to get my hands on, and I get a third one handed over to me.

Besides, I really was hoping it might be a bottle of Whistlepig from the little clue that she had given me.

Still, a rather good day.

BFerguson congrats on the Col Taylor haul. It never made it to my area and the only online dealer I can find has it store sale only.

My order of Devils Cut and Early Times 354 bourbon should be delivered on the 12th.

BFerguson - In my house both the Taylor's would be gone long before the Whistle Pig was 1/5 empty. Seems like it all worked out for the best, enjoy the Taylor.
