Young Blacksmith
Had a pour of Bulleit, which is usually good, but has not been satisfying lately. Then I switched to OFo 100, that one really hits the spot. Sweet, chewy, thick nectar of the gods, or at least Brown-Foreman!
Chuckles
In honor of my late pappy's birthday last night, I had a couple of nice pours from the last bottle from his stash, VVOF (BIB in '67). That juice is sooo good. On the advice of SB posters, I have been nursing this fifth for nearly a year, saving it for special occasions. Been working out well so far. My father was a tech rep for a labeling machine company and often called at the Stitzel Weller plant ('60-'70s), where he was gifted with many, many fine bourbons over the years. I wonder if he ever met Pappy....

jcg9779
Current release AAA 10 Star 90 proof tonight...haven't had this one in a while and I'm getting some good vanilla out of it tonight. This standard release is very hit or miss with me. Some nights I get the good vanilla/maple/caramel thing going on and it makes me think that it's a great value pour....other nights it just tastes like cheap, bottom shelf swill. PaulO
I hadn't had any OF Signature for a while, and ended getting some. The store I made a special trip to was basically out of rye whiskies, and OWA. They had the OF for $15. When opened, it smells sort of like maple, and a nice bakery. I seem to ignore most of the other opened bottles when I have this.
lrochau
Cracked a bottle of OWA, it's been months... Good stuff.
smokinjoe
I have pooh-pooh'd the crap out of the Russell Reserve Rye here, over the years. Bland, boring,..yadda, yadda, yadda...But, tonight, it delivered something really special for me. I poured it, left it sitting for a bit of time, and then came back for my nosing and first sip. When I lifted it to my nose, I wasn't thinking what was in the glass. Frankly, I had forgotten that I had a new pour in my glass. The "special" thing that it delivered was the huge hit of something that I have never experienced in any rye whiskey...Rye Bread! Never, ever, have I even had a tinge of rye bread from a rye whiskey. This one did. And, since I wasn't thinking rye when I took my first nose and sip, I've discounted the power of persuasion. Makes me pretty happy with the brand, and I'm looking forward to tomorrow to see if I get it again. Oh, the learning never stops....
fishnbowljoe
Had a little JW Dant BIB at bowling. We did a side by side of pre-fire DSP 31, and DSP 2. :yum: Both good. At the moment, I'm having some Ezra Brooks 101 month old from the wildlife decanter I got a few weeks ago. It's not too shabby either. Joe
