Started with some Early Times from 1976 then followed that up with pours of ND OGD 86 and BIB before finishing the night with a couple Templeton Rye and Ginger Ale's...a very good night for sitting outside in the Chicago area!

Polished off my last bottle of Pappy 20 last night. I'm hoping that the Fall shipment hits stores in NC soon so that I can pick up a new bottle!

It's absolute bourbon bliss sipping on a Buffalo Trace on this glorious Saturday late-afternoon. I've probably said this before, but it bears repeating...IMO, there is no regularly bottled bourbon on the market today that is as consistently good as the BT has been for the last couple of years. The Great Funk of several years ago is a distant memory. I don't know what y'all are doing over there at BT with your namesake brand, but please keep it up.

It's good to hear confirmation that BT is tasting great. Definitely on my buy list for the upcoming trip.

My last handle of BT was musty, but that was about 2 years ago, and could have sat on the shelves longer.

May have to pick up another newer one in a store that has turnover.

Tonight it's some older OForr with ginger and Pechayud's bitters. Then probably some OWA or OF 100 proof on ice.

I found the EC12 that I stashed in the back of the cabinet at the in-laws tonight. Had a nice pour over a couple of rocks with dinner and it was fantastic.

Old Grand Dad 114, neat.

Just the ticket for Monday madness.

Always a good pour, Oscar. It will be a while before I open another OGD 114 because I'm trying to drink down my open bottles first. I do miss it!

Dropped by sgtgto's place this afternoon and took a sample of BHC OCPR SS back to the hotel with me...this is definitely a nice pour. Very sweet from the corn on entry with a very different finish...need to spend a lot more time with this one. :)

Well Jake and I ended up going to a bourbon bar in Seattle and I had some SW Old Fitz 1849, AAA Barrel Proof 107, and some EW 12yr 101pr...all very good in their own right and pours that I hadn't had before...there are many more at this place that I need to try! :skep:

BTEC Cab Franc 16 yr. I am beginning to take a liking to the "finished" bourbons. Not for every day, but I think that they do have their place. A little bit does go a long way, though.

Still thoroughly enjoying my bottle of OWA (old label) which is truly outstanding. This particular bottle is richer and more full bodied than I remember my last one to be.

No bourbon today but a lot of rye. HW 16 and Rendezvous before dinner and Rittenhouse BIB and Bowman PS uncut first edition after. I did like the Bowman best, but a bit surprisingly I liked Rendezvous over the 16 today.

2001 EWSB this evening. My least favorite of them all, but could be just this bottle. I think I like EWB better.

It's not a bourbon but I think we aren't limited to bourbon in the thread. It's Spicebox, the new whisky I mentioned from Canada flavored with vanilla, sugar and spices. However, I blended it about 4:1 with Canadian Club, and find it much better: still sweet and with the full spicey vanilla pod taste but less thick and with good whisky taste coming through. Perfectly balanced and I will drink it this way until it is finished.

By the way I was rather surprised how good the regular CC (six years old) is on its own. Very rounded and soft with good hints of rye spice. The thing about CC is, if you want to taste the rye, it is best to drink it young. At 10 years old or older, or re-barreled in sherry casks, the extra years or wine in it cover over a lot of the natural whisky flavour you get at 6 years old. You get other tastes which some appreciate I know, but I like the regular issue the best now. There is nothing wrong with it, au contraire.

Jefferson's 10yr Rye. The more I delve into the bottle, the more I'm left wanting more from it. It's good, just not what I was hoping for.

Jim Beam Black, not bad, but not great, just a decent all around'er. No high rye spice, and no real wheat sweetness. Not bad, but the asking price is mighty high for what it is.

Had my first pour of Weller 12. I'm officially in love. Just the right amount of sweet wood, nice wheat flavor. Followed that by my first sip of NAS OWA. I really need to try this again with a fresh palate and not after Filipino food. The proof was getting to me, which i do not usually experience. My last drink before bed is a bottle of 1990 OGD 86 proof I found dusty hunting (SF Bay Area seems pretty damn picked). A damn satisfying pour. Definitely reminiscent of the OGD BIB I bought a couple years ago. Whereas in the BIB the rye sometimes punched me in the mouth, this seems to be making love to my tongue. I would imagine this has something to do with being on my 4th glass, but I will remove that from my mind and enjoy the last few sips.
