Working on putting a dent in an open bottle of Old Fitz BIB to try to forget the heat wave we are experiencing. I'll probably have some W.L. Weller Special Reserve for a nightcap. It looks like a wheater night.

A Wild Turkey 101 from 1997. Not at all "complex", but it is has a wonderful taste of caramel, fruit, rye spice, and a little leather. The finish is long and caramely. It is a very good pour.

After another nap...:D, I'm listening to ESPN Radio with a splendid pour of McScrooge's OWA 7 yr Barrel # 5. :yum: An explosion of flavor from nose to finish. One of their best, and they've had a lot of good ones.

Private selection of ETL SB... after this latest pour I am positive that I do not like ETL. Too thin, astringent and woody for me. Might have to pour this out and help myself to a OCBiB

Tried some JB Devil's Cut, followed by a taste of EWSB '93. Two completely new bottles that were very reminiscent of things I've had before, but in unexpected ways.

Leif... what was the barrel number on the 8YO from Toddy's?

It’s barrel 2369 Reid. It’s exactly down to half.

Had a couple pours of RHF and single pour each of EC18 and FR Yellow. Really, really liked the RHF, but everything tasted so good last night. Amazing how your palate can change from day to day.

I had a pour of Blanton's earlier in the day. I'm drinking WTRB at the moment... always a very good pour.

This morning I had a little WSR. Don't sell this short. Certainly not the most potent bourbon on the shelf, but it does deliver a good favor.

Finishing up a 375 of Eagle Rare while watching the Queen's Plate, Canada's version of the Derby (it's actually older than the Derby). Exciting finish.

Not as excited about the bourbon, although I'm not complaining and glad I brought it to Montreal. The SAQ doesn't have much in the way of bourbon and I was a little disappointed in the selection of Canadian whisky.

Working on a pour of EWB. I don't feel like putting too much effort into my bourbon tonight

It's the Deep South. It hit 95 today, with humidity to match. A thunderstorm is brewing, and about to unload. So, a pour of Evan Williams Antebellum Decanter 7yr 90 proof is in order, ya'll.

Four Roses Yellow label and Ginger Ale as I watch the thunderstorms roll through.

3 parts 1997 Wild Turkey 101 to 1 part 1999 WTRB. A nice sweet base with a little dryness, but it is missing something.

Going to have a pour of OGD 114 tonight.

Tomorrow is another story. Planning to break out a Pappy 20.

It will be the first full day of our new software system at work. Two years in the making.

The way I see it, whether it goes well or not, a special drink is in order.

After putting out another set of 1st place baby backs from my WSM (great to have your family doing the judging ) I settled in with comparing S-W Special Reserve with current nas OWA, cut back to 90 proof. Still at the dinner table, my 82 year old white zinfandel with ice drinking mother reached over for my glencairns. She first nosed, then stuck a spoon in both, extracting a minute amount to taste. She immediately nailed the S-W stating she liked its deeper pecan and brown sugar taste next to the citrus and raisins of the OWA. I can't disagree with her.

After mowing the grass while the mercury hit 110 degrees, I had a tall glass filled with crushed ice, Four Roses Yellow Label and ginger in an attempt to cool down. It helped but a cold shower worked better.

Tonight I am having several pours of AAA 10 y/o.
