Passed on some 1948 Very Old Fitzgerald 8 year old. $999.99 lol

I was wondering when this one would be brought up. What I'm more interested in is the backstory of how they came to procure this specific allotment.

There was an auction lot (Christies?) that feels very similar in age/qty that hammered late last year. I wouldn't be surprised if these were the same bottles.

Ok, next question for somebody more knowledgable than me, is it legal to resell something that was purchased through a channel like this?

I thought that retailers pretty much had to buy product through the normal distribution channels.

Just curious.

Passed on a THH at $109, and a Taylor Tornado at $99. Did pick up a Barbancort 5 Star rhum at the same place for $22.

I think it is state by state and in CA it is legal.

Funny... I was thinking he might have been behind it too! If I was smart enough, I would have gotten my boss in on it. :slappin:

2 x PVW for $199 each and 4 Handy's for $99 each

I hope that's the PVW 23 @ $199 but based off the price of the THH, I fear it was the 20.

Handy @ 83.99

Rittenhouse 23 @ 199.99

REALLY want that Ritt, but not at that price.

Found a WTKS bottled in 03. Based on the BOTM posts I might have to go back and grab it.

I left 5 bottles of Wild Turkey 101 Rye on the shelf. Even at 17 bucks and change, it's just not my style. I have an open bottle here that I can't seem to choke down.

Really? I haven't been the biggest fan of ryes. I have a few VWFRR that I really like, and a vintage 21 rye that I love. Baby Saz and Ritt BIB are only ok in my book. I had never had WT rye 101 until the 81 thread. I bought one bottle to try after reading about its going away. I absolutely love it. It is right up there with AAA and WSR for value pours. Ritt is $22-23 when I can find it, Baby Saz $26-28. I like this better and it's $17.25. I've been buying all I find.

Ox, I just noticed, you joined in Feb 08. I joined in Apr 08. You have 10X the posts that I have. I'm such a slacker!

I can usually find something that I like about any bottle but WT 101 Rye is the exception. It just hits me wrong and I've sampled it a number of times.

I need to haul my partial to the Sampler this year and find a fan of the bottle to try it to see if I got an outlier.

If it were the PVW20 I would understand a little given the context of a very fashionable Los Angeles shop, but no sorry I forgot to say it was PVW 15yo!

I passed on a bottle of PHC 5th Edition, and instead purchased three other bourbons for the price of that one... I'm regretting it a little.
