BFerguson
Passed on some 1948 Very Old Fitzgerald 8 year old. $999.99 lol I was wondering when this one would be brought up. What I'm more interested in is the backstory of how they came to procure this specific allotment. B
yountvillewjs
There was an auction lot (Christies?) that feels very similar in age/qty that hammered late last year. I wouldn't be surprised if these were the same bottles.

I thought that retailers pretty much had to buy product through the normal distribution channels.Just curious.B

callmeox
I left 5 bottles of Wild Turkey 101 Rye on the shelf. Even at 17 bucks and change, it's just not my style. I have an open bottle here that I can't seem to choke down.

I have an open bottle here that I can't seem to choke down.Really? I haven't been the biggest fan of ryes. I have a few VWFRR that I really like, and a vintage 21 rye that I love. Baby Saz and Ritt BIB are only ok in my book. I had never had WT rye 101 until the 81 thread. I bought one bottle to try after reading about its going away. I absolutely love it. It is right up there with AAA and WSR for value pours. Ritt is $22-23 when I can find it, Baby Saz $26-28. I like this better and it's $17.25. I've been buying all I find.Ox, I just noticed, you joined in Feb 08. I joined in Apr 08. You have 10X the posts that I have. I'm such a slacker! callmeox
I can usually find something that I like about any bottle but WT 101 Rye is the exception. It just hits me wrong and I've sampled it a number of times.I need to haul my partial to the Sampler this year and find a fan of the bottle to try it to see if I got an outlier.Ox, I just noticed, you joined in Feb 08. Fpst
I passed on a bottle of PHC 5th Edition, and instead purchased three other bourbons for the price of that one... I'm regretting it a little.
